About Rachel Chaparro

I'm a working professional in government relations and Colorado native. I have lived in Denver since 1997 and absolutely love the Mile High City. I am a huge live music fan and highly recommend a Red Rocks show if you have never been to the venue - it's definitely a once in a lifetime experience! I also am an avid hiker and can give you some recommendations if you are looking for a great hike close to the city. Food is a passion and happy to send some ideas for local favorites and new hot spots.

Rachel Chaparro purchased this house in 2001

Why Rachel Chaparro chose Sunnyside

Sunnyside is a popping neighborhood with new coffee shops, restaurants and bars all within walking distance from the property. The house is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood so you can enjoy the fun of the city and completely relax when you get home.

What makes this house unique

As soon as I walked in I knew this was the place I wanted to call home. The house is a fix and flip so the people who bought it gutted in and replaced everything. A bonus is the neighbors are warm and friendly, too!

Wonderful Stay in Sunnyside!

  • 4 of 5

We had an wonderful stay at Sunnyside. The home was clean and in a convenient neighborhood, about a $6.00 uber ride to Downtown Denver. We were able to walk to the local coffee shop every morning while also taking long walks in the neighborhood. Would stay again!

Quaint centralized blungalow.

  • 4 of 5

Very quaint centralized bungalow easy to get to downtown and other areas. It's obvious that Rachel is fixing the place up and restoring the historic charm. But the creaky wood floors, brick and age add to the charm. The walk ability is ok I'm 62 and we did walk to the Bacon restaurant on 48th st. But you drive one block down to Tejon st take a left and your at Little man Ice cream, in five minutes and down town in fifteen minutes. Avoid the Freeways use the side streets.

Very cute and centrally located!

Great place with ample space and nice decor. Little issue with little TP and sopping wet floor mats - easily resolved. Overall great experience - would definitely stay again & recommend.

Nice little house, close to downtown Denver

  • 4 of 5

Seems to be in an up and coming area which means there's a LOT of construction in the area so be prepared for road closures and construction crews working early and late. That being said, most everything was within a 10-20 min drive.

The house itself is very nice inside and very clean. The general living room/dining room/kitchen area is a little tight if more than 4 people but we made it work for the 5 of us. The 2 bedrooms right off the living area are a nice size but both beds up against the wall so when there's 2 adults, 1 has to climb across the other to get out. Also the bedroom closest to the bathroom has the loudest (squeaky) mattress I've ever slept on. Every movement wakes you up. The hardwood floors are beautiful but are so loud so our friends sleeping in the basement bedroom were up every time we were up.

The other bedroom is in the basement and is very nice but the steps to get down are pretty scary (very narrow and steep with turns). Also strong smell of cat so the 1 person with us had to switch bedrooms due to allergies.

The upstairs bathroom was beautiful and well stocked. The downstairs bathroom was nice as well.

The back yard of the house was under construction so we weren't able to sit out there but it looks like it's going to be really nice soon with stone slabs.

Rachel was very easy to deal with a great at communication.

Nearest Airport

Car: not necessary

One of the many bragging rights we have in the Mile High City is the sun shines over 300 days a year and the Sunnyside neighborhood is by far one of the hippest neighborhoods with plenty of great eats and drinks.

Since we love to put the feedbag when we travel and agree with comedian Jim Gaffigan at the heart of all vacations is “eating in a place we’ve never been before,” below are recommendations to help you sort through the over 300 restaurants opened this year and old standards with notable chefs who forged the way for Denver’s burgeoning food culture.

Rise and Shine!

We recommend kicking off your morning with some baked deliciousness and one of the best lattes in Denver at the Cherry Bean Café, a quick walk two blocks away on the Southwest corner of Tejon and 41st. Close by brunch spots include Bacon, Sunny’s and Universal. If you’re a coffee aficionado, venture out to different corners of the city to experience Denver’s finest cup of joe at the Thin Man, Black Eye Coffee and Novo Coffee shops.

“Snack” or Lunch

If you plan to go downtown, some great spots include the Mercantile (American/French), Thirsty Lion (American), the Kitchen Bistro (American), Mexico City (Mexican), ChoLan (Asian) and the Nickle (American). Cherry Creek also has some great lunch spots. Our favorites include True Food (Organic), Matsuhisa (Asian), Machete Tequila + Tacos (Mexican) and Departure Restaurant + Lounge (Contemporary Asian - also great for dinner). And if you’re a shopper, this hood is a must-see.

Neighborhood food favorites include Uncle (Ramen), Lou’s (American), Sushi Sasa, Root Down (organic/seasonal), There (Asian), Avanti Food & Beverage (two levels bar space overlooking city, coop of restaurants) and Highland Tap and Burger. Other favorites include Lena (Mexican), Cho44 (Asian), Potager and Table 6 (Farm to Table) and Sushi Den (best sushi in Denver).
