Calm, clean, quiet oasis on the Tunnel of Trees
My husband and I could only take a few days this fall, but this 'cabin' was a lovely three days. Wonderful spacious living spaces with views to Lake Michigan. Especially liked the free form patio on the edge of the bluff. The house seems new, very well equipped with high-end finishes. Even a garage to protect our car from thousands of falling acorns this time of year. Perfect location, isolated yet close enough to Harbor Springs.
Splendid Northern Michigan Getaway
Anyone looking for a piece of Northern Michigan, look no further. Thru the tunnel of trees and close enough to Harbor Springs is this lovely picturesque home. It is impeccably clean, the most comfortable beds I have slept in besides my own, views are outstanding from all the windows and is equipped with anything one needs when away from home. We stayed 2 weeks and the time went by quickly as we welcomed the dawn and put the day to bed from the stunning patio which looks exactly like the photos. With the lovely landscaping of rocks, sedems and ferns, it may be even better than the photos. Ponds Mill Farm was our local produce stand and the drive to Harbor Springs took our breath away daily. Barb and Tom were too kind to share their well appointed home and various area pointers with us and were always an email or call away.
A wonderful home, beautiful location, great owners!
My husband and I rented this home June 7 through 14 and could not have been happier with our choice. The house is truly lovely, extremely cleaned and well-cared for, beautifully maintained. The kitchen is excellent - we ate in a lot because who wants to leave this spot? Not us. Great kitchen appliances and tools, good internet connections, and you really cannot beat the views. We spent time out on the patio looking out at the lake mornings, during the day, and evenings. There are no close neighbors so it is very private setting - although it is close to M119, it is still a very quiet, solidly built house, with no traffic after dark. Lots of deer, hummingbirds, wildlife. It is very close to Good Hart, and an easy drive into Harbor Springs. We will definitely go back to this house again. When we arrived home in Chicago, my husband said "I want to go back!" Both king size bedrooms were great, although I took the one with the Lake Michigan view! Bathrooms are great too. It was perfect for the two of us and would be good with two couples and two kids. We loved it. Great bicycling and golf in the area too.
This house is absolutely the best we've ever rented. It is scrupulously clean, has an amazing view, and it is beautifully appointed. Barb & Tom have anticipated and provided everything you could possibly need for a week in paradise ... and they were wonderful to work with. The outside terrace is a spectacular place to enjoy the view of Lake Michigan. The tunnel of trees is like nothing I have seen before and deer and wild turkeys abound in the evenings. Good food and shopping are within easy driving distances in Harbor Springs, Petoskey and Charlevoix. Out to Lunch became our go to breakfast place and The Pointer Room (a Stafford Restaurant) is a fine dining establishment with a great view of the marina (delicious fish and steaks) in HS. Thanks, Barb & Tom, we are looking forward to our return trip next Labor Day week.
Fabulous views/Amazing homeowners/Wonderful stay
I am from Northern MI (Petoskey) and know the beauty the area has to offer. My husband and I took our girls (ages 10 and 13) to experience a Northern MI vacation. You will not be disappointed with your stay! This home's setting provides privacy and peacefulness. The views of the water were breathtaking from the patio seating. Any dinner, breakfast, or lunch we enjoyed at the home (when not eating at our fave City Park Grill for dinner) was enjoyed outside looking at the water. The accommodations are very, very nice! I am picky and I had no complaints regarding cleanliness, space, bedding (wonderfully comfortable!), or overall comfort of the home. Barb and Tom are very kind and helpful. Barb is a wealth of knowledge regarding the area. We knew going into this that Lake MI would be colder than inland lakes and have rocks. My daughters braved the coldest week of the summer and still went swimming and wading into the water. We took a ton of the most amazing photos on Barb and Tom's lakefront and of our girls enjoying the beach. If you haven't been to Northern MI (referred to as "God's Country" by many) it is time you did! And the perfect setting to enjoy the beauty of Lake MI and Northern MI is Barb and Tom's home!
Relaxing Sunsets, Wonderful Family Time!
We were a little wary of vacationing north as we have always went south to warm weather and beaches. No More! This is a beautiful home in a beautiful setting. We enjoyed our mornings having tea with nature on the overlook patio and were awed by the sunsets in the evening. The view is incredible! The home is VERY well stocked. Anything you need to make a meal or evening snacks (other than the food, of course) is there. We had the beach to ourselves and enjoyed the crystal clear water and the small inflatable with which to paddle around. We were excited to see the bald eagles and many other animals! My daughter was identifying birds (hummingbirds, woodpeckers, etc.) each day. The house and the grounds were immaculate. Just walking around nearby Harbor Springs is quiet and relaxing. The owners were gracious hosts and we look forward to seeing them again! We highly recommend this cottage! A great vacation! A true memory maker!
Located in the 'Tunnel of Trees' on S. Lake Shore Drive just north of Stutsmanville Road, on the bluff side of the road. Harbor Springs is a small picturesque community with the deepest natural harbor of the Great Lakes. There is Fine Dining, local shops, public beaches, and area golf courses. Petoskey and Bay Harbor are nearby. A day trip to Mackinac Island is also a popular summer option.
