About Sue Fitzgerald
I grew up in the Norfolk, Va. area. I have lived outside of Raleigh, NC for 28 years. I work inside, but really enjoy being outside.I love to go on new adventures. My husband and I enjoy hiking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and biking.
Sue Fitzgerald purchased this Condo in 2002
Why Sue Fitzgerald chose Sugar Mountain
All throughout my life I have traveled through or around the Blue Ridge Mountains to visit family. A friend owned our condo and invited us to come fora weekend. That was our first trip to Sugar Mountain. We enjoyed our stay and the area. Our friend offered for us to buy, and we took him up on it. We consider this property a blessing.

Dated but Well Maintained, Great Communication
My husband and I go to Banner Elk every summer to escape heat of South Carolina. We have stayed several different places. I selected this one because of the location. The owner immediately responded to my questions and sent directions with access information as soon as the reservation was confirmed. It was convenient to everything. The amenities were as stated and all worked. We were the only ones in the building. No one above us or below us. Very peaceful at this time of year. We did buy a fan because the interior stayed warm. Once we got the fan to pull the cool air in, the interior cooled off. Slept with windows open. Walked the dog around the neighborhood. Very pet friendly. Saw a lot of people walking dogs and riding bikes. Only issue was due to storms moving through, a tree fell on power lines and broke a pole in half. Power was off for several hours. Totally not the owners fault and they were very responsive.
You need to expierece for yourself. Great for the price owner is honest.
Very clean and comfortable for the 2 of us and our dogs
Perfect for a short ski trip close to the ski slopes at Sugar Mountain great price
Best Value Possible
This place is conviently located walking distance to the slopes. It’s close to Boone, Blowing Rock, and Banner Elk. Owners were friendly and easy to work with. The place looks exact like the pictures and is very cozy. We plan to come back.
Property had everything we needed.
Short walk to the slopes. Perfect for our family of four.
Great place, perfect location on Sugar Mountain
Nice condo, responsive host, but the pullout couch has seen its better days. One of the bed legs is broken and the frame is really hard for the back. Remember to bring your linens, towels, toiletries, toilet paper. No washer/dryer, which is a bummer given it's located on a ski resort. The internet was great but overall the appliances are very old. The stove works well but it looks like it's from the 1950s. :) Again, the stay was overall great especially considering what you pay for it and its location.
Thank you for letting us know about the sofa leg. The old matress was replaced with a memory foam mattress not too long ago. . Glad you enjoyed your stay.
Hemlock Heaven is a condo on Sugar Mountain which is a ski resort. The ski slopes are a short walk from the condo. However, it is beautiful all year around. The fall leaves are magnificent. There are several festivals to go to, especially in the fall. There is a Farmer's market in nearby Banner Elk. There are many walking or hiking paths in the area, good fishing, kayaking, gem mining, a local lake beach, and many good restaurants. It is close to Grandfather Mountain, Appalachian State University, and Tootsie Railroad. If you are a shopper, there are many antique shops and flea markets.
