About Veronica Morgan
My name is Veronica and I was born and raised in Chicago IL, but grew up on the beaches of Puerto Morelos, my fathers home town. I have seen the town grow from a sleepy fishing village to a beautiful suburb of the Riviera Maya. Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have about Casa Azcorra or about Puerto Morelos and the Riviera. I currently reside 6 months of the year in Chicago- the summer months =) and 6 months in Puerto Morelos. Love it!
Veronica Morgan purchased this Apartment in 1978
Why Veronica Morgan chose Puerto Morelos
Originally the town of Puerto Morelos was the main Port of moving of goods to the Island of Cozumel. My aunt was in charge of the warehouse that stored the goods prior to transport. At the end of the 70s when shipping service began out of Playa Del Carmen and the large Fiscal dock was built in Puerto, the property that was the warehouse was offered for purchase to my Parents Family. One of the best decisions they ever made was to purchase the property and together with my Grandparents the Mattisons, Casa Azcorra was built. The family history of this home goes hand in hand with the story of Puerto Morelos. Over the years, Casa Azcorra has been updated and features such as the tiered patio added. One of the things that you will notice is that the house "breathes", so no matter what room of the house you are in, you will feel the cool Caribbean breezes the area is famous for. Once a sand road, the Downtown area of Puerto have actually grown around Casa Azcorra, having it uniquely situated close to the town square, the grocery store, the fruit market, the artisan markets, restaurants, bars and taxi stand.

Great Beach Front Home for Families with Kids
Rented both levels for 2 sets of families and worked perfectly for all. Great for families with kids. Loved that we’re close to everything Puerto Morelos had to offer such as Ojo del Agua, Malecón and Plaza.
Location is great!
We love that this house is on the beach with a wonderfull three level patio and close to the town center!! We practically live outdoors while we’re there, enjoying the warm breeze and sunshine!
Beautiful ... But SOOOOOOO noisy!
We rented this house in Puerto Morelos for 3 adults and two 2 1/2 year old kids.
When we arrived there, the place was amazing and really convient. The set up to the beach is superbe! There was everything we needed and it was really clean. Ricardo was super nice and helpful.
**BUT we discovered the first night that right next door, there is a bar that plays live bands well past midnight, EVERY NiGHT. The music was so loud that we ad to put hear plugs all the nights. And the music was starting early (around 4pm) so it was really hard to put the kids to sleep. We were there to relax, but honestly, we couldn't. The loud music and the loud people till one o clock every night got us to be be quite upset. I could have tolerate a bit of music of course, but this was way to much... The house rule said that we could not make noise after 10pm... even if we would have wanted to enjoy a quite evening after 10pm we couldn't have done it.
We talked to the owner about that, because in the add it said: "Quiet and beautiful town"... She seems to care, but she concretely didn't do nothing to compensate for all the trouble it cause us. This information ("Right next to a bar") is definitely something to mention, especially when you know there is small children coming... We all felt we should have knew that.
If you you are looking to do the party every night, this house is perfect! But if you want to have a nice quiet vacation.... You should definitely book somewhere else.
Our stay in Puerto Morelos
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Puerto Morelos. The view was great and it is very handy to the downtown area without driving.
Quick Takeaway: We cannot wait to rent this again next year...and want to stay longer!! Location is perfect and we loved the apartments/house.
Additional info: We rented both units and had more than enough space for two children, myself and my husband, and my parents. (One unit probably would've actually been enough, but we wanted some separation.) The several terraces provide ample space to hang out and we loved having the "yard" be part of the beach but closed in by a fence (key for my little one!). There are shady spots and sunny spots, and also quiet nooks to relax in. The actual beach is fabulous and the sunrises are particularly glorious from the house and decks. Swimming is easy and the beach was never too crowded.
We also enjoyed the sweet town of Puerto Morelos - it has a very safe and friendly vibe! (Quite honestly, we almost never locked the house unless we were tucked in for the night!) Snorkeling was a highlight, and we also did a day trip to Chichen Itza.
There *is* a beach bar next door, and they do seem to have live music on weekend nights, but things quiet down between 10 - midnight. Some rooms are more quiet than others, and we slept well overall.
Veronica and her family are delightful, as are their crew/workers, all of whom we saw frequently. Highly recommend!! You really can't go wrong with this one!
Wonderful time on the Maya Riviera
The place was amazing - very spacious, clean. It was so nice having the owners so close to help out. And the view! Close to everything. No need to rent a car.
Located in the heart of the quiet fishing village of Puerto Morelos, a car is optional in this area as restaurants, bars, beach, snorkeling/scuba guides are all within walking distance.
