Looking for a special little retreat while you visit the SF Bay Area? This studio offers style, amenities, simplicity and relaxation.
Located on a secret, sleepy culdesac just up from the water, you can enjoy views of the Bay and Angel Island without the congestion of Tiburon's tourist district. But when you want to catch the Ferry to San Francisco or enjoy one of downtown's cafes, it's just a short walk away.
Casita Del Mar blends comfort and style in a small package. Its simplicity and thoughtfullness have a European feel. The place is open, airy and filled natural light. While it's a studio layout, the space has been sculpted to create defined spaces for the bedroom, living and dinning area, as well as the kitchen. Against one wall a collapsible workspace is provided in case a visitor needs a designated spot to get things done.
While at Casita Del Mar, relax in leather armchairs and watch the sailboats scoot across the infamous waterway, Raccoon Straits, located between Angel Island the Tiburon Penninsula. Sleep in and wake to the morning sun on the Bay. Coffee can be enjoyed on one of the two outside seating areas, one under a large oak tree with views of the water and the other on wood decking in a protected spot on the back side of the house.
A great spot for a couple that likes to wholeheartedly explore an area and then later blend into a peaceful neighborhood setting, or for someone on a stimulating work trip that wants to unwind at the end of the workday in comfort and ease.
Mike and Christy manage the property for the owner. The owner purchased this property knowing it would become a special getaway for family, friends and other visitors to the region. They upgraded and enhanced the property to make it comfortable, attractive and a welcoming place for guests.
Mike Monsef / Christy Kieffer purchased this house in 2013
Properties near this section of Tiburon provide a more relaxed and quiet atmosphere to the popular downtown area. Casita Del Mar's location on the hill also offers a nice vantage point of the Bay.
Its size, location and view make Casita Del Mar a quaint home for travelers.
The cottage was the perfect size for a couple’s getaway. It was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the fireplace and the bistro table. We would definitely return to this home!
We stayed for 3 weeks, and it was very convenient for the marina and Yacht Club, and also for buses and ferries to San Francisco, Angel Island, Sausalito, etc. It's a nice downhill walk into the little town of Tiburon. Note that going back to the property is an uphill walk which is fine as long as you are fit. There is a nice view of the bay and Angel Island between properties on the opposite side of the road. It was pleasantly quiet during the day and night time. The property is equipped adequately for most tenants for preparing your breakfast, lunch, and light snack/meal, but not for a full-on meal. (You need to be able to cope with just one frying pan and one saucepan on the 2 burner hob, and microwave.) It definitely suited us better than staying in a hotel room for 3 weeks and would have no hesitation in recommending it to others.
There is a wonderful view of the San Francisco skyline from the park and ferry terminal at Tiburon.
This is a cute little cottage in a quiet neighborhood in Tiburon, perfect for a couple or a couple of girlfriends (only room for 2 people). Nice patio table outside for coffee in the morning or wine in the evening with nice view of the bay. A close drive to Ark Row with shops and restaurants, a nice walk along the water and the Ferry dock is here also. A nice benefit is having room in front to park a car as the streets are narrow and not much room for parking. The place does have windows but no air-conditioning, which under normal weather conditions would probably be fine. Unfortunately, there was a record-breaking heat wave during our stay (8/31 - 9/4/17) so pretty uncomfortable for a couple of days. Nice place, I would stay again if coming to the area.
Just what we wanted to enjoy this beautiful place. A cozy gem!
We enjoyed our week here very much. No A/C but with windows open very comfortable. We hope to stay here again.
So sorry to be so long in responding but we've had major complications since we visited.
We had to plant Christmas trees, then plant corn, and then plant soybeans...and harvest wheat.
We also took me to the ER (stayed 3 days) for Food Poisoning...which I still am recovering from.
Your place was just right for us...but you do need a new mattress! We'd like to return next March, but our decision will seriously consider whether or not you upgraded the mattress!
Take care...and we'll be in touch in the fall. Also, the price was at the very top of our budget.
