Great unit, great location!
This is a great updated unit in the Eagle Lodge, located by the Olympic rings in Whistler North. The location is very convenient and we could easily walk everywhere and didn’t need our car at all. Our stay was lovely. The only thing I noticed was that although the kitchen has the basics supplies it does not have a lot of extras, but I always travel with extras for just that reason. I would definitely stay here again!
All good. TVs need updating and remotes didn’t work. But all else was good.
In the middle of Whistler
Very convenient for the town including all the shops and restaurants.
Well fitted out, very clean and tidy
Location of the unit was great. Walking distance to everything. The sinks in the washrooms are very awkward to use and there is quite a bit of wasted space that could be used for counter space. Bring your own iron as the one provided leaks water constantly. It can get very hot in the bedrooms even with the fan. There were numerous flies in the room when we arrived as someone had left the window open. Otherwise, the furniture is modern and the layout works for a group of 4-6 people but not much more than that.
Thanks Amit for your review, I will definitely look into the areas of concern.
MTB trip to Whistler
The property is in Whistler Village and located to several restaurants and shops. It is about a ten minute walk from the base of the lifts. Location is very good.
The property was apparently flooded about six months prior to our stay and since renovated. Unfortunately, we did not learn of this issue until the day of our arrival via email--despite booking 5 months earlier. In the email we were also notified that there was no table (of any kind) to eat on (just 4 chairs), the living room/main room TV was not functional, and the primary wifi was no active (a back-up password was provided which provided passable service). There was some hope that these issues would be resolved the day after our arrival, but unfortunately none of the problems were fixed. The owner did maintain daily communication and tried to obtain a table, but the repair of the TV and WiFi never occurred. A table, rug, and ottoman were delivered on day 5 of 6 of our stay, but unfortunately they were just left in boxes in the center of the condo. Apparently, according to the owner (Damian), they were supposed to be assembled. He offered to have a handyman assemble them the next day, but we declined as we were leaving early the next day. Damian did refund two nights of our stay which was a reasonable gesture, although if we had been apprised of the situation at the time of our booking we could have made an informed decision. The lack of transparency was concerning.
Other negative issues: While the location is good, it is located on a square and can be quite loud at night. There is no A/C, so the windows must be left open when it is warm. We were treated to many loud, drunk ramblings between 12 and 3 am. In addition, there is a piano at a store just below the apartment that is open to the public to play. Unfortunately, many who "played" the piano had not had lessons. A repair of the dishwasher is in order as the soap dispenser does not work (the soap is not released).
In general, the unit is well appointed and should provide a nice place to stay. There is limited storage (two closets in the main room were locked and there are no cabinets to place clothes/items in). The condo is said to sleep up to 6, but two people in the pull out couch would be a stretch. For a group of guys on a mountain bike trip, I'm grateful that we had only 3 as the beds are queens.
In general, the condo is fairly nice, but did not measure up to our two previous visits.
Thank you Eric for your review, your comments regarding the table, wifi and living area TV are fair. The renovation was completed July 11th and the furniture was set to be delivered back July 16th, I visited the unit July 20th (As I am in Vancouver and work M-F) to check and make sure everything was in order, before you arrived the next day. Which is when I discovered that the table was not returned and the wifi / living room TV were not working. I had to order a new table the next day (Monday) and unfortunately the Brick only delivers to Whistler on Thursday’s. They were also meant to set up the table which they did not further compounding the issue. I had set up alternate Wifi and the TV’s in the bedrooms were not affected. As you noted I had refunded you two nights of your stay for this situation. Regarding the transparency you mentioned, I didn’t believe I had anything to mention everything should have been good to go for your arrival, (I was anticipating small issues to correct on the Saturday, but not major ones like I had). I have been dealing with this for 6 months now, when it happened I didn’t think it would take longer the 3 months, so I didn’t even think I would need to be giving guests in July a heads up. I am genuinely sorry for the situation and how it played out, I worked hard to rectify the situation or put plans in place to try and work on a faster solution. It doesn’t affect you now but the table, Wifi and Living room TV are one hundred percent operational in the unit.
Access was easy to everything in the village!
