Oceanfront Floating Home near Ski Mountains!

Bedrooms 2
Property type lodge
Minimum Stay 3 - 4 nights

About the property

Ocean Front Floating Home With Amazing Views of Mountains and City

Our place is a floathouse! We are a 2 bedroom and den, full-size house floating on the ocean. It is a 10 minute seabus ride from downtown Vancouver. 10 minute drive to North Shore skill hills. The very gentle movement will give you the best sleep ever. The marina is quiet and very peaceful with amazing sunsets.

The first floor is an open concept living room and kitchen. The kitchen is brand new and fully equipped and the living room has a built in projector and pulldown screen for home movies or stream TV over the internet.

The second floor has one large bedroom and one small bedroom. The third floor has a den with huge windows looking onto the view of the city and mountains. The large outdoor deck has seating for 10, and amazing 360 degree views of the city and the mountains.

The neighbourhood has lots of cafes, grocery stores, walking and biking trails, and an oceanside market 5 minutes walk away. Rainforest trails are a five minute drive away, as are kayak rentals and swimming beaches. There are power boat rentals right in the marina where the floathome is located.

We are 15 minutes from downtown by car or by seabus. From airport, you just take the airport train to waterfront station, get on the seabus and we are 7 minute walk along the seawall from the seabus terminal. If you drive, it is approximately one half hour from the airport.

We stayed for 3 days in October, wish we'd have stayed longer. The views are amazing: city, bay and mountains! The house is clean, cozy, extremely comfortable for 2 people. Public transit is very easy to navigate. It took a day for me to get used to "moving" on the floating house, but after that I didn't notice it. Would love to go back and spend more time in this top 10 location from such a comfortable, high-valuve vrbo. Loved it!!!!

Cosy and fun!

  • 4 of 5

Our three day stay in the floating house was a relaxing adventure. Attractively furnished with a recently remodeled kitchen and bath, the feel was family friendly modern with a wonderful upstairs sunroom and outdoor deck to enjoy the views of the Vancouver skyline in one direction and the mountains in another. If you are a fan of marinas and boats you will enjoy this opportunity to stay in this neighborhood of likeminded homes which gently glide with the tide. Parking was secure, the woodburning fireplace was great, shopping and the seabus for trips into downtown Vancouver were close and accessible by foot if desired. This is three story living reached by a walk on an uneven dock and those factors could be a consideration for some.

Fantastic place, views, and fun

  • 5 of 5

This is a fantastic home, and a really great experience staying in a floating home. The house is beautiful, and very well equipped, and the instructions on how to get there, and pick up the key were really good. Its an experience to be recommended, and we're only sorry that we couldn't stay longer. It worked for both mountain bike trail riding for my son up on Fromme mountain (the bus takes bikes), and for shopping in downtown Vancouver for the others. Can't praise it enough. Thank you for making it possible.

Comfortable and relaxing, amazing views!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this unique property in August 2017 with two of our teenagers. It was just the right size for us - had we had our third teen with us it probably would have been a little cramped (ie. one of them would have had to sleep on the couch in the living room). As it was, we had the master bedroom for ourselves, one son in the sleeping nook, and the other in the upstairs den on the pull-out. The house has all the amenities you will need, and is very well located. The marina was surprisingly quiet, with the exception of warning horns of cruise ships, tugboats and the Seabus (the Lonsdale terminal is only about a 7 minute walk from the marina, and the downtown Vancouver cruise ship terminal is directly across the harbour from the marina). The views are spectacular all around, from the downtown skyline right across the water, to the outer harbour beyond Lions' Gate Bridge, to the North Shore mountains. Sunsets were unbelievable, and the twinkling lights at night very soothing. If you are worried about getting seasick from the motion, don't: unless you are very sensitive to it you will hardly notice any movement. The kitchen was very well equipped, and the full bathroom has a front-loading washer/dryer combo. Having only one bathroom was a bit of a challenge at times, but not a deal-breaker.

Don't pass up this unique property! I've already "sold" it to one family we know here, and doubtless there will be more.

The BEST in every way!

  • 5 of 5

Overall the experience living at TideRider was "over the top"! Living for a month in this lovely, 3 story floating home in Mosquito Creek Marina was excellent for MANY reasons:

The Location...short walking distance to town, bus and ferry transportation, Lonsdale Quay-full of shops, restaurants and yummy food stands.

The home itself... Very well provisioned with wifi, full kitchen facility including a dishwasher, laundry, sundeck, 2 -3 comfy bedrooms, generous living dining area, and all furnished very tastefully.

The Owners... Karen and Robert provided very clear information about the property, which included a video of the home and clear information about access and the many amenities available.

Car access...a free parking space is provided.

We would love to return!

About Owner/Manager

Karen and Robert live in this floathouse and love it. We bought it last year, and it is better than we imagined. We love the gentle feeling of the tide rocking you from time to time. Walking home across the docks and seeing the ocean every day is such a lovely thing. We travel and live part time on Cortes Island so we rent out our home when we are away.

And we just got a new puppy! It's an Aussie Shepherd Toy size. So she's small, but we love her and she lives with us now (anyone with allergies?)

Why Owner/Manager chose Lower Lonsdale

Ever stayed in a floathouse before? Its an amazing experience - so close to nature. If you are a nature person you will dig it for sure!

What makes this lodge unique

You can walk to so many places - restaurants, markets, forest trails, ocean side trails, seabus to downtown. The location is amazing. And lots of times we see seals in the water as we walk to our front door along the docks.
