About Sharon Karttunen
I have lived in this area since 1960. Raised two well rounded, happy girls due, in part, to the beautiful area. I can't imagine living elsewhere. Yes, it's cold and snowy in the winter, but when spring and summer arrive, all is forgotten. The picture above is my daughter and her sons. It was taken the day they went to Presque Isle, located in the park and beautiful place to view the falls and spend time on the beaches of Lake Superior.
Sharon Karttunen purchased this Cabin in 2011
Why Sharon Karttunen chose Silver City
I have owned property in this area since 1980. Where I live now, was once the Rainbow Motel and Chalet's. The property where the cabin is located was called The End of the Rainbow. It was a restaurant and Laundromat. We remodeled all of it. My parents and niece lived in the two cabins on this piece of property. Mom and Dad decided they should be closer to town and my niece went to collage.
What makes this Cabin unique
The cabin is a great base camp for all the activities at the Porcupine Mountain State Park. It's a beautiful piece of property with maples, white birch, and spruce trees that are very old. I remember going to the restaurant when I was younger, getting an ice cream cone and watching the bears. From the car, of course.

This is a gem!
Lovely setting, clean and everything you'd need for a cozy stay. The love and attention given to the details of this cabin show how much the owners care. We've used VBRO in North America and Europe and this one is high on our list! ,
Small, but perfect base camp for our hiking trip
The place was clean, well stocked and very close to the park. We were able to go hiking each day, then come back for a shower and relaxation. A definite gem.
Cozy little cabin
The cabin was everything we needed. It was very comfortable. It’s nestled back off the highway and quiet.
This cottage is close to the porcupine mountains which was the purpose of our visit. It is clean, quiet, cozy and cute. So glad we found this! We even enjoyed a fire in the fire pit. We will definitely be back. Thank you!
Great location, Clean, Packed full, Charming!
This little cabin was a surprise. It is located very close to the terminus of HWY M-64 and just down the road from the AmericInn, which puts it less than 5 mins to the Porkies. While not ON the lake, it is across the road so you can see Lake Superior right out the front door window. It is a clean, well-maintained property with just about every convenience you might need for cooking simple meals (griddle, single electric burner, microwave, etc)and staying clean (sink, hot shower, toilet). At least when my wife and I were there, it was also stocked with firewood for a bonfire! Because of hotel taxes and such, your ending price may be somewhat higher than you expected BUT... you get refunded a fee if nothing is damaged and you don't trash the place...PLUS it still ends up being a better overall deal than the AmericInn down the road (having more privacy, amenities, charm, etc.). I THINK the cabin next door is owned by the same people...That cabin is significantly larger for bigger groups. This little cabin is good for two people. GREAT PLACE, GREAT STAY!
Amazing cozy cabin!
What a wonderful cabin! We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin has everything you need and made our stay very comfortable. In the heart of the Porkies, this cabin is a great stay for a weekend of adventure!
We are a small community with lots of nature. No gas station in town, no grocery store, just an abundance of beauty. The nearest town with a gas station and convenience store is White Pine, six miles from here. So come prepared and you will surely have a wonderful vacation.
