Comfortable apartment in a convenient central location
My wife and I stayed in this property for a week in mid-October 2016.
This property is a second floor apartment overlooking the junction between two pedestrianised streets. It can only be accessed by a flight of stairs leading from a door next to a shop (something to bear in mind if you carry heavy suitcases). There's a bathroom with a bath and shower, a bedroom with a large double bed, and a living room / kitchen. All the furniture was comfortable and the apartment was clean. There is a large television, fridge, microwave, coffee maker and cooker. The apartment has wi-fi but the connection was not very good at the time of the visit. The owner is due to upgrade to a better connection very soon, and has possibly already done so by the time you read this.
The apartment is north-facing, which is good because it means that it does not overheat in the sun. Also, there are large windows that can be opened to let in the breeze.
In the immediate area there is a choice of bars/cafes and a supermarket within a few minutes' walking distance (turn right out of the front door and follow the street to the end). There are also numerous interesting shops in the area. The sea front is a minute's walk from the front door. For those who go to church, the Catholic church is only five minutes' walk away. This makes the apartment a very convenient base for a stay in Puerto de la Cruz. If you are driving, it should be noted that it is not easy to park nearby. I suggest parking in the large free car park by the harbour and walking to and from the apartment. If you arrive by bus, then the apartment is about 15 to 20 minutes' walk away from the bus station.
The owner, Marina, is very friendly and helpful and can speak English.
The only downside to this location is that it can be noisy at night. On Saturday the noise from the bars in the street below continued until about 02:00 in the morning. The rest of the week was quieter. Also, the refuse collectors and street cleaners tend to operate early in the morning (at around 04:30) which can be disturbing for a while. Obviously all the apartments in the area (and probably most other pedestrianised areas of Puerto) have the same problem, not just this one. I was not really bothered by this but it might be something for you to bear in mind.
Overall, I was very pleased with this apartment and would be very happy to stay there again. Thanks!
Thank you very much! I really enjoyed to host you! My house is always open for you!!!
