About Leslie Becker
I am a Maine Registered Guides and know this island very well. I love living here and being able to use the home when I can. The beauty and surroundings are wonderful especially if you are active. I use to have a home in Bar Harbor- but found the noise and t-shirts for sale a bit overwhelming.. This town offers more activities and more local things to do - if that is your style from the art shop/homes, to Thurstons, famous - last lobster pound locally owned and operated in Maine. Thurstons is shut down in the winter and spring - however there are many restaurants open in Southwest Harbor
Why Leslie Becker chose Bernard
hiking, biking, etc, acadia national park, plus I am a Maine Registered Guide and live and work here..you can paddle every day- please do not get in the way of the lobstermen and women they have the right away. Make sure you have wet suits in Maine- the temp of the water never gets above about 45 in the summer - so do not fall in ! Best to be ACA OW here - due to our strong tides and more

Just what we were looking for!
Leslie's property is full of waterfront charm! About 30 minutes from the main sites of Acadia, such as Cadillac Mtn and Thunder Hole, which is exactly what we were looking for. My Shiba loved the fenced in yard and I am always grateful for great places that allow dogs - this is one of them! Had a struggle with the TV after a big storm and Leslie had someone over to fix it within hours! Excellent communication and wonderful stay! Will 100% be back.
Perfect for us!
Very cute cottage, appropriately decorated and amply supplied with necessities. The beauty of the area and the place went hand in hand
Thurston's was closed along with most anything else other then Charlotte's near us, which was exactly what we were looking for.
Nice hiking trails on this side of the island, (Ship's Harbor, Wonderland, Bass Harbor light and Beech Mountain etc.) and even with the road closure, it was still a quick drive over to Bar Harbor or Cadillac Mountain, Thunder Hole, Jordan Pond etc.. Even with the nor'easter that came through and knocked out electricity, it didn't change our minds about our perfect stay.
The home owner very kindly refunded our nights with out electricity, without us even asking. We would recommend it to anyone looking to stay on the "quiet side" . October was perfect for the fall foliage and it was peak while we were there! Totally breath taking.
Thank you for staying ! You were real troopers with the power knocked out for days.. This is what occurs each winter as well.. This side of the island is just beautiful and very peaceful. Hope to have you back soon so you can stay longer and see more ..as well as not become campers suddenly with power outages . October is the best month to see the island even to the end of October- we do book a year ahead for that month .
Thank you again !
The owner went out of her way to be accommodating. The home was very clean and fully stocked. Comfortable master bed with amazing views. I enjoyed watching the fisherman and wildlife from the windows and cooking outside on the wonderful deck. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay my one regret is I didn't stay longer. Highly recommend
Thank you for staying ! I am glad you enjoyed the home.... come back and stay longer ! Some people stay a month...
Loved this place ; it is even better than the photos.
Thank you for staying ! We would love to have you back soon .. let us know when you are ready to vacation a bit longer here .... Thank you for takign such great care of the place as well ..
Great stay in Maine!
First, great location, wonderful views (sunrises in particular), in a working fishing village. The place is great, and we enjoyed ourselves. It was very well stocked, we even had coffee pods for the Keurig provided, as well as real maple syrup which we enjoyed one day (Thank you!). King bed is wonderful/twins are good for kids (2 twins in each bedroom on rollers work fine for kids, but not as great for older adults). Going upstairs may be a little challenging for the elderly, so just beware. Place is well stocked; Leslie was very attentive, and we really enjoyed the town--Lobster nearby, great boat tour as well. Internet works great. Highly recommend! Authentic Maine get-away!!
Thank you for staying ! I am glad you had a good time in this special area of Acadia. Yes the stairs are the original farm house / store and not much we can do to change them, ( without tearing of the second floor ) . The home was a store for the wharf originally and had a separate door from the water to enter. Due to its history, the stairs need to stay.... many parts , ie : living room wood floors, etc are part of the original home or dance floor in the same village . There is alot to do on this side of the island, more pure Maine and shopping and the restaurants are much better. Hope to see you back in the future !
Thank you for booking with us ! We are glad you had a great time - you guys had the hurricane chasing you in ....I would love to have you back - whenever you can make it !
