A Woods Hole gem!
My family and I enjoyed a wonderful stay at this property. The house is comfortable — the sleeping porch is a special treat, and the location is ideal - across the road from their beach! The owners are responsive in communications. We will remember our stay fondly and hope to have the chance to rent this property again in the future.
A cozy and comfortable cottage with ample room for three families, one on each floor with own bath
The place has a lot of character and nuances of several generations who have used it. Very comfortable and timeless in the appointments and furnishings. The sleeping porch is a unique feature where you feel like you’re camping out but with convenience.
I am so happy that your family enjoyed their stay
and found our house cozy and comfortable.
Thank you for leaving the house clean with
everything in good order.
Warm, inviting home. Great location. Quiet and private setting. Vintage Cape.
This was our 1st time at this property, 5th time staying in Falmouth. From the moment I walked in, it felt welcoming and comfortable. One enters through the living room/dining room, a wonderful space for a memorable family/friendship gathering.
Our favorite spot was the large screened-in porch just beyond the dining room. It was furnished with comfortable chairs and couches where one could read, relax and enjoy the view of the surrounding trees and feel the cool breeze.
The description lists 4 bedrooms, but there were some bedrooms which opened to other rooms, so one could almost count 6 bedrooms. - 1 on the main floor, as well as bedrooms both in the basement and on the 2nd floor. One of my kids claimed the screened-in porch/bedroom on the 2nd floor as their favorite, as it felt like being in a tree house.
The kitchen was modest size, well equipped with dishes, pots, pans, cooking items, etc. There is a full size refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher and double sink. Washer/dryer in the basement.
The house is located at the end of a quiet street, partly shaded by large trees. Residents and guests at this property are allowed access to the beach facing the Bay - a very short walk just across the street, between two properties.
What I especially like about this location is that one could walk or bike into Woods Hole (about 1 mile) without having to travel on the busy and windy main road. Once in town, there are a number of good restaurants, the WH Aquarium, small shops, etc. One can pick up the Steamship Authority ferry to Martha's Vineyard in town, as well as access the start of the Shining Sea Bikeway - a 10.7 mile trail for walking, biking or jogging - passing marshes and ocean views along the way.
Upon arrival, we were met at the house by a very friendly caretaker/property manager who made sure the house was in good order. When I texted him about difficulty closing one of the windows, he came over within minutes to fix it! Prior to our stay, if I had a question about the property, the owner responded very promptly.
The house has three bathrooms - one on each floor. There is a large, claw-footed bathtub in the third floor bathroom, and a separate entrance to the one shower on the main floor. As with old houses of this vintage, there is some mustiness and dust, tough for those with allergies. No A/C, but the shading from the trees and a few good fans could keep one comfortable, even had it been warmer. Mid-June is a perfect time to visit.
So glad you and your family found our home welcoming and
enjoyed your stay and appreciated its warmth.
We have enjoyed this house as a family home
for several generations and have welcomed many visiting
scientists including Jacques Cousteau and his wife. Yes
the sleeping porch is a favorite to many and the walk
to the beach is very special as is the short walk into town.
Thank you for your thorough and informative review which will be
most helpful to interested future guests. Thank you as
well for leaving the house so perfectly clean without a thing
out of order.
