Picturesque Cottage!

  • 4 of 5

We evacuated due to Hurricane Matthew, and we were so fortunate that Chuck, the broker, was very responsive to our inquiry, despite receiving numerous calls from other evacuees. The place was a picturesque cottage, perfect for a small family or a romantic quiet getaway. It has 2 br and 2 br, and an open design adjoining kitchenette and living space. It is a historical home, and the decor reflects the historic context and the country setting. You can see the mountains and the fields through the bedroom and living room windows, it really is a place where you could unwind and catch up on novels if you are so inclined. Cell phone reception is pretty spotty, so if you have a booster you may want to bring it with you. Wifi is available but is also challenging to get reception. The overall location is a short drive to Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, and Forest City. Asheville is pretty close as well. Downtown Rutherfordton is adorable and has an excellent children's museum. Downtown Lake Lure and Chimney Rock are great places to spend a few hours as well. I keep calling this trip a Hurrivacation, because even though we left for safety reasons, the cottage and the country made it feel like a vacation!
