This cottage is located in the historic Thousand Island Park on the beautiful Wellesley Island. The island sits between US and Canada in the St. Lawrence Waterway. There is a international bridge connecting the island to main land and also to Canada.
Thousand Island Park has a rich history dating back to the late 1800's when the community was a Methodist Revival Camp for city dwellers to live in the summer. Eventually people purchased lots and built lovely victorian cottages both small and large and numerous different styles.
In the active summer months July and August is when the community is the most active. There are community events taking place everyday and evening. Including, children/youth daily sports on the lawn or a movie in the Tabernacle. The cottage is a very short walk to the Tabernacle where there are nightly movies as well as worship services on Sunday morning.
The community has a lovely historic hotel that houses a nice restaurant and small pub that opens in the evening. There is also a ice cream parlor, small grocery, deli and diner in the new "Guzzle" building.
There is a main dock where there is yoga in the mornings (for a small fee), a coffee cafe and is a very popular place for swimming and sunbathing.
There is a yacht club in the park that offers sailing lessons and other fun events.
Every weekend in July and August is filled with fun family activities such as a fishing tournament, 5K run, triathlon, cottage tour and tea etc. All of these events are available to guests. There is a lovely history museum that shares the historical nature of the park.
There are also golf carts to rent to get around.
