Women's group getaway
Property is beautiful. Iveth is very friendly and attentive host. I was impressed for this house to be off grid ....22 women showers stayed hot...kitchen facilities were state of the art....definitely will book again!
Perfect for large gatherings. There were a few things that previous guests had broken or abused that would have been nice to know. Iveth couldn’t be nicer and the place is great!
Mom and Kids Getaway
Our stay was with 4 moms and 11 kids (ages 5-14) for 2 nights. There was so much to do. The kids loved playing pool. Kayaking, fishing, walking around the land, swimming in the pool, etc. Maria, who helps manage the house is awesome! We would all go back and stay again.
Thanks so much for choosing us!!!
Great property with lots of room for larger parties. Loved the pool and outdoor areas.
Loved most of the things about the property. It was unfortunate that a number of things weren't working that we weren't told about until arriving to the property. The main oven upstairs and the entire kitchen in the basement weren't working. Luckily there was a smaller side oven in the main kitchen and the grill outside so we were able to make due with our meal plans. Other than that everything was great about the property and would definitely recommend to larger groups. The indoor pool area is especially nice. Owner was also very easy to get a hold of and work with before, during, and after the stay.
a memorable 50th anniversary
We celebrated our golden anniversary at Walnut Ridge with our adult children and teenage grandsons for 3 days. The lodge itself is huge, so there was plenty of room for everyone to have space and relax. The outdoor seating spaces are a tremendous asset. Due to the extreme heat and drought we did not take advantage of all the outdoor water activities but did take full advantage of the wonderful pool.
Our sincere thanks to Iveth and Tony for their hospitality as well as their tips for the surrounding area (winery and a fabulous diner by the grocery store...best, least expensive, huge breakfast ever).
Annual family vacation
First, we should say that we chose this lodge for the indoor pool. It is very nice and a good size for our grandchildren. Iveth was accommodating as to the hours of use ( we had discussed this issue before finalizing arrangements). With the pool and the fishing lake and game room the family enjoyed our stay. There was a surprise concerning Iveth's intention to actually continue living in the pool-house during our stay. We had never rented any other facility on VRBO that was indeed the owners primary residence. We felt that would be intrusive and after some negotiation Iveth agreed to leave after cleaning the pool early in the morning and returned late after the family had retired to the main lodge. With it being her residence we found many items on the shelving, tables and such. These were an attraction for the young toddlers that we wish hadn't been around. We definitely don't feel the house is 7 bedrooms. the "bedroom" listed as her studio is very small and open to the great room both via a doorway with only a curtain as well as being visible thru the see-thru fireplace. Sleeping there was not good. There were some structural and functional issues that came up. I accept the explanation that Iveth wasn't aware of these beforehand. The house rules given to us required that only one person be using the shower at any one time. With 22 people that drug out the showering procedure quite a bit. I believe this is a rule due to some water issues; but we did have adequate water at all times. We were also told not to use the clothes washer/dryer. Same reason maybe? All in all we have to say that the issue of this house being the primary residence of the owner makes it a real problem for renting to a family such as ours with ages ranging from 1 to 73. Every other VRBO we'd utilized was a vacation home investment for the owner and fairly spartan in it's decor except for the usual necessities. We prefer it that way. It's just more relaxing with less concern of damaging someone's personal items.
One other thing is that there is a nice shopping area about 15 minutes away for groceries etc. and the trip up to Kansas City is only about 45-50 minutes with lots to do there So, know what you want and get a copy of the rules before you rent.
Please let me know your needs, I can schedule any service at lodge including food catering, chef on board, babysitter, horse back riding classes.
