About Holli Streff
I grew up in the Crosslake/Pequot Lakes area and after college I moved away. After my husband and I started our family we wanted a place that we could come to in the summer so that our kids could be around family and enjoy our beautiful Minnesota lakes. We bought our first tiny cabin one week after our second child was born and we enjoyed that for several years until our next child came and we quickly realized we needed more space. We then purchased this cabin and have been enjoying it ever since. Our children are all now young adults and we realize that our life is taking us in different directions and so we thought we would open up our cabin to share with other families when we aren't able to be there. An empty cabin is a sad cabin - they are meant to be filled with generations of families.
Why Holli Streff chose Crosslake
After we looked around at many cabins on the Whitefish chain we chose Trout lake as our favorite lake for many reasons. The beautiful aqua color of this springfed lake always intrigued me as a child and I loved how clean and deep the lake is - reaching 120' deep. As stated earlier I picked this area to be near family and I love how the area offers so much for people visiting. Besides the lake activities there are plenty of restaurants, golf courses, shopping, mini-golf, ice cream shops, horseback riding, turtle races and the list goes on and on.
What makes this Cottage unique
We have great elevation at the cabin for enjoying lake views and sunsets, but that is also combined with a nice large flat grassy area for all of your lakeside activities. Trout lake is great for swimming and is known for its clear water. You can go right off the dock onto a no weed sand bottom or you can enter the water from shore where it is a hard rock bottom.

Great Getaway Cabin
This house is so warm and welcoming, clean and convenient - it was a perfect lakeside retreat for our three generation family. We enjoyed lake activities and bonfires, and there’s a nice walking path right across the street.
A memorable weekend.
Welcoming, clean, beautiful, and conveniently located!
We had a wedding at Manhattan Beach Lodge and wanted a family friendly home to stay in so we could make it a nice family vacation. Our family of five shared the home with two other families of three, totalling six adults and five children ages 6 months to 4 years old. It was perfect! There was plenty of space and seating for everyone. The lake is absolutely gorgeous and the small beach was great for the kids. We highly recommend this home for any family wanting a nice Minnesota lake vacation.
A great place for family!
This place was perfect for our family and significant others to enjoy the lake and quality time together. We really took advantage of the fire pit/ ping pong and open space near the fire for games everyday. We also had great weather to enjoy a few boat days!!!
Family Reunion on Trout Lake
Multi-generational family reunion. Our family spent many summers at Boy Scout Camp near Cross Lake and love the area. We played mini golf at the same course that we played at in the 1970's. Five minutes to Cross Lake and the grocery store and coffee shop. Holli was a wonderful host and responded immediately to our concerns. The cabin (a home, really) was great, good sized and immaculate -- looked brand new. Decorated in Minnesota cabin style. Wonderful kitchen and well-stocked. Great times on the porch and games around the dining room table. Water fights in the lake.
We did not have a boat so were not able to access the lake other than from the shore but there were fish to be caught off the dock.
Note that there are 60 steps down to the lake, so be aware that people with bad knees may not be able to make it to the beach.
We were able to sleep 13 people comfortably-three on air mattresses in the basement, even more people during the day with their own accommodations, never felt crowded, although we had to pack out some of our trash as a large group will make more than the garbage can can hold.
Final note. We left a few things and Holli, unasked, drove to my house and left them in my door. That's service. Thanks again Holli.
The pictures don’t do it justice. Very nice home, and Holli went above and beyond when our schedule had us arriving at 1am and we got locked out! Highly recommend.
Great spot for a family get away. The cabin, lake, and amenities were perfect.
Loved it. My wife and I hosted our three adult children and their plus ones before they left for college. Cabin was clean and spacious with all the necessary amenities. Access to the whitefish chain of lakes was wonderful
