About the property

2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 5

This White-water cabin is the perfect getaway for a family or a couple. We are located in the heart of wine country and just five miles from Dahlonega. Lots of fun activities in the spring and summer.

This unique cabin overlooks a large flowing white water creek and is adjacent to the national forest. The cabin features a wrap around deck with outstanding views of the rushing water. Located on the deck is an eating area and a gas grill with stairs leading to a pathway to the water. At night you can sit on the deck in the darkness and watch the fireflies and the stars. To reach the cabin, you pass through our family farm, past our cattle, the barn, and a pond for fishing. Look out for deer and wild turkeys. This is a hikers paradise; there are numerous trails from easy to difficult on our 200 acre farm where the cabin is located, and even more as you hike into the national forest and reach a water fall just a short hike from the cabin. Inside the cabin, the great room and master bedroom are located on the upper floor. The great room features a vaulted ceiling, a comfortable living room with a large stone fireplace (we provide the wood), an open kitchen and dining area. The master bedroom is spacious with a king sized bed and a seating area that connects to the deck; a lovely place for a first or second honeymoon. It has its own private bathroom. The lower level can be reached by a stairway from the upper floor or via an entrance that opens directly into a mudroom that is a great place to leave hiking shoes, wet bathing suits and fishing rods. The lower level features a large multi-purpose room with a queen bed, a twin bed, a game table (with lots of board games),and a seating area. Also there is a bathroom and a large closet and storage room. Whether you want a romantic getaway or a family adventure, this is a great place to get away from it all. Take time to enjoy your family and the art of conversation. Cuddle up with a book in front of a warm fire or play board games with your kids. If you need some diversion, we now offer Satellite TV, plus an assortment of DVDs and movies for adults and children. We do not provide wifi, but, we have great cell phone reception. As remote as one feels, this cabin is located in the middle of wine country and only ten minutes from downtown Dahlonega. While here, make reservations for brunch at one of the wineries and make sure to visit the great restaurants and shops in Dahlonega. Wonderful day trips to Helen, State Parks and the Appalachian Trail are within a few miles.

About Anita and Guy Middleton

We developed the farm beginning in 1978 and have raised cutting horses and cattle for most of those years. We built the cabin overlooking the beautiful Yahoola Creek in 2002 for family use. Now through VRBO and Home Away, we want to share it with others.

Anita and Guy Middleton purchased this cabin in 1978

Why Anita and Guy Middleton chose Dahlonega

We bought the 200+ acres to raise our children and to develop a cattle and horse operation. The farm and the community have been a wonderful place to live.

What makes this cabin unique

Coming to the property and the cabin is like stepping back in time. Nature surrounds you, and you can experience the beauty of the Yahoola Creek as the Cherokee Indians did some 200 years ago.

Our family had a fantastic stay.

  • 5 of 5

We love staying in unique places and this property didn’t let us down. Our kids loved exploring the property and wading around the waterfall. It was plenty of space for us and our four kids. The kids even had their own level which they were excited about. We have family in Dahlonega so I’m sure we will be back!

Great cabin to just unwind in N. GA

  • 5 of 5

We booked this cabin for something different on our family's spring break this spring. It was wonderful. From the views from the deck of the roaring creek to the fireplace to the location. Anita and Guy were wonderful hosts. The cabin is comfortable for our family of 3 and can sleep up to 5. Very secluded on the Middleton farm. Lots of deer and wildlife on the property. Not far from downtown Dahlonega GA. Had a great time. We highly recommend.

Beautiful, secluded, comfortable: perfect for a get-away-from-it-all stay in Georgia's wine country

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful home, decorated with old Hollywood posters and memorabilia, is smack dab in the middle of nowhere. But, if you want to drink coffee next to a babbling stream, or sit out at night with a glass of wine and see every star in the heavens, then this is the place for you. We used the house as our base for a three-day trip to explore North Georgia's wineries and the town of Dahlonega. What a delightful experience! From the moment we picked up the keys from Anita and Guy until we departed on Sunday, everything was perfect. We'd recommend the Foothill Grill for breakfast, Monteluce Winery for dinner, and Gustavo's for lunch (especially if you like pizza). Our favorite wineries were Cottage, Frogtown, and Kaya and, if you're in the area, definitely stop at the Z. Brown Distillery for whiskey and gin.

Comfortable cabin with excellent river frontage

  • 5 of 5

Guy and Anita were very nice people and they have a true gem. The cabin sits right alongside a rushing portion of the river providing a tremendously calming backing sound for your stay. Less than 15 minutes from down town Dahlonega and amazing scenery at the nearby wineries. We enjoyed our stay very much!

Very Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Guy & Anita are some of the nicest people we have ever met! They are great hosts who are just a call away if needed! They greeted us with homemade delicious cookies. Their secluded cottage sits on a hill in front of a mesmerizing rushing creek. We ate on the front porch every night enjoying it with a glass of wine. The cottage is very nicely decorated & stocked with all that one would need. The deep well spring water from the facet is cold & very good to drink; & to shower underneath it, makes your skin feel soft. The relaxing time we spent there was just what we needed. It is only about a ten minute drive to the cute town of Dahlongena, GA & nice wineries nearby for tasting.

Thank you so much Guy & Anita for your hospitality,

Sincerely,

Jim & Diane Sykes

Owner's Response: We started renting our white-water cabin a little over a year ago. And we have really enjoyed the process. Everyone who has stayed with us has been delightful and each group has their own story. I always took our wonderful water for granted - but until lately I haven't said anything about it until one of our guest said it would be nice if we provided some bottled water. That's when I told them about our great spring water. So thanks, Diane and Jim for sharing that. We loved having you. Anita and Guy
