About Derek Mattimoe
I am a retired Chartered Engineer, I grew up in Bishop Auckland in County Durham and later moved to Durham City in the North East of England where I've lived for the last 21 years. I enjoy hill walking, cycling and playing golf in my spare time.
Derek Mattimoe purchased this Villa in 2006
Why Derek Mattimoe chose Peyia
I bought Villa Corelia in August 2006 because I liked the laid back lifestyle of Cyprus, driving on the same side of the road and having British 3 pin plugs is an added bonus, the empty roads in the countryside takes me back when driving was a pleasure. There aren't many Villas with a covered veranda, a very welcome spot in the midday sun. The elevated poolside ensures privacy in this quiet and relaxing location.
What makes this Villa unique
The villa is in a rural village within walking distance of shops and restaurants but far enough away for quiet relaxing living. The front of the property is south facing and has views of the mediterranean sea to the front and views of the mountains to the side. The sunsets are fantastic to watch from the balcony.

Lovely ,clean and peaceful villa
We have just returned from a weeks stay in this villa.
From the outside the villa looks a little weather worn , to be expected with the Cyprus climate, however once inside the villa it was spotlessly clean.
The rooms were light and airy with everything as described in the overview.
The American style fridge freezer was a blessing, as was the large smart screen tv , with sky package as well.
Having stayed in villas around Cyprus for the last ten years or so, this villa was as well equipped , if not better, than most.
I must say that the swimming pool definitely was the cleanest we have ever had.
The villa is situated in a quiet part of Peyia so a car is necessary as everything is up or down hill.
The owners were very easy to contact and from the outset every thing was explained and e-mailed to us.
We wil be recommending this property to our friends and family, and would hope to return again soon.
Thanks to Derek ,the owner , for a wonderful week.
Thank you for your informative and positive review. I've noted your comments on the outside of the villa being a little weather worn and I've added this to my maintenance schedule for later this year, it will be re plastered where necessary and painted. I'll pass on your kind comments on the villa's cleanliness to Linda she'll be very pleased and to Reno about the pool being in tip top condition.
You are most welcome to come and stay again anytime.
Fantastic, quiet, peaceful location
Derek is exceptional in communication. Nothing too much trouble. We arrived to find the place better than we thought-photos do not do it justice. Google maps using Pegeia (Peyia) Police station brought us to the village. The private pool is great to jump in at anytime and on a night, it is just bliss. Massive rooms. Massive place. Great shaded areas to get out of the sun. Lots of books to read. Car is a must to get to the fantastic unspoilt places and the driving is easier and less aggressive than the UK. Use owners advice for car hire- ours was not good. Easy access to supermarkets and beaches. Brewery Bar which you pass on the way up to Pegeia Police station has one foot long Pork Chops, it also the best Mousaka I have tasted. The take away Indian next door is fantastic and the Naans are monsters. Ask for less salt. Philippos Supermarket is a great place to buy the marinated chicken, lamb kebabs and marinated Goat which is very similar to Lamb. There is one in the village but much smaller. Fridge with ice maker is fantastic. Had some 'Vintage' Cypriot wine at the Vineyard AKA cheap French wine. Road to the waterfall is NOT suitable for all vehicle as sign posted. I would not take my any of my cars down it and three would bottom out instantly. Pathos Harbour is a great place to Promenade and the ice creams are delicious. We barbecued most nights in a leisurely fashion by the pool. Best to sit near the pool as under the terrace it does hold the midday heat. We switched the Air Conditioning on in the bedrooms for a short time on a night before going to bed and then used the fans which are quieter and keep the air circulating. We would definitely come back.
Hi Heather and Gary,
Thank you for your kind and positive review. It gives future guests an insight of what to expect and a wealth of information about the villa and the surrounding area.
I look forward to welcoming you again should you visit Cyprus on your holidays.
Thank you very much for such a wonderful villa. This was our first time in a private villa and it was lovely. It was home from home. Lovely village lovely people both British and Cypriot all very friendly. Everything was there that we needed. As explained all uphill so if you are not keen on walking a car is a must. The villa was lovely and clean and in a quiet setting. Lovely restaurants and places to eat and Coral Bay is a gem stone. Even if you dont sight see the beaches in Coral bay are wonderful. Dereks communication before our trip was superb nothing was to much trouble for him. We would certainly book again. Thank you again for such a trouble free booking and a relaxing time at your villa. Tracey and Steve Hill.
Hi Tracey and Steve,

I look forward to welcoming you back should you visit Cyprus again.
Second time here, loved it as much as the first time!
Spent 3 weeks at this lovely villa, one week on our own and joined later by our daughter and 3 grandchildren, they all loved it especially the pool. Hope to return again.
Hi, thank you for your kind and positive comments, I look forward to welcoming you to stay at the villa in the future.
Brilliant Villa and Fantastic Facilities
We arrived in the evening and were overjoyed at the standard of the Villa - even in the dark it looked great. It had all the security/cleanliness/mod cons you would expect at home (UK). Waiting for a negative throughout our 10 day stay as you would expect on a vacation...did not find anything. In fact it surpassed our expectations. Derek was more than informative when contacted and when reassurance was needed.
All in all, our emigration research trip was made that more pleasant with the stay in the beautiful villa in Peyia.
Would highly recommend as a base for getting access to the scenic places on the Island as well as just staying in the Town enjoying the sun on the terrace which faces West and gets the sun ALL day.
Great time in a excellent villa
We stayed at Villa Corelia last year and enjoyed ourselfs that much booked again for this year.We could not fault with the villa it was lovely and clean.plenty of crockery and utensils.Linda who looks after the villa came to make sure there was no problems (none) Reno came and cleaned the pool regular .Outside was lovely and clean.the upstairs balcony is great to sit out on a night you could see the sea and some nights you could even see the cruise linners plus durring the day you have sunbeds to lie out on the balcony.Coral bay is not far in a car and a great place to eat pleny of restaurants to choose from.i would definatly recomend this villa for a family holiday or just to chill out.Hopefully we will be returning next year.

It is very traditional in look and feel with little winding streets and traditional stone houses with an old village church and shops at the centre. Peyia offers visitors a good selection of amenities including banks, medical centre, supermarkets, a fruit & veg supermarket and bakeries. It also offers a good selection of traditional tavernas where you can try the local fish or meat meze, or you can try the local restaurants which offer Cypriot and international food throughout the week. Try the Grande Taverna with it's walled courtyard or walk down to Neo's Sport Club where you can play outdoor bowls or snooker in the air conditioned snooker room. They have cabaret three nights a week and good food in their bar and restaurant. The village is very popular for Weddings so is ideal for wedding guests to enjoy a relaxed holiday. Golf: There are three golf courses within 30 minutes drive of the Villa and one Pitch & Put Course 10 minutes away. Ski: The skiing resort is located in the Troudos mountains which is within 1 hours drive of the villa. why not ski in the morning and go for a swim in the afternoon? One of the few places in the world you can do this.
