Good location, missing some details
When we arrived, we weren't sure if we were in the right house because there were unmade beds! I called the contact number in the kitchen, and Dee came to change the linens, towels, and clean the bathroom. The cottage was spacious with a quiet neighborhood. We liked that it was walking distance to town and the public beach.
It would be nice if there were dressers to put your clothes in. Also, some of the windows need repairs. It seems like the yard could use some landscaping.
Nice cottage. Very clean.
Quaint little town of Hessel is very peaceful. Kind neighbors. Enjoyed morning walks along the lake. Lovely beach for kids to play. Delicious Moomers ice cream at Mertaugh's Boat Works. Sunday's farmers market is a great place for farm fresh foods. Truly enjoyed our visit.
We had high hopes for what was advertised as a "charming cottage" but it turned out to be very disappointing. The general appeal of the cottage is lacking: old, defective windows (many without screens), walls with nails and nothing hanging on them, cobwebs, missing light fixtures and bulbs, unvacuumed rug upstairs. When we booked, laundry was promised but instead we found only an old dryer. The kitchen was nicely stocked and the bed was fine, but this just was not a place that felt comfortable, clean, and welcoming. Attention to detail and TLC is greatly needed.
Tv didn't work had to keep moving the antenna around to get one channel no WiFi
For sure if I ever use your service again I will be more careful on the place I rent , the grass was at least 6 to 8 inches tall couldn't get into the front porch bc of the weeds were taller then the porch , trash can outside was overflowing, I sent picture to the owner he said he was sorry , the house inside was nice but I will be more careful before I rent again
A fantastic place to stay when vacationing in the UP.
My family and I had an awesome time staying here. It served as a great base-camp for our UP site-seeing vacation. Just about 1 hour from the Soo, within a 2 hour drive of Tahquamenon Falls, Oswalds Bear Ranch, Newberry, White Fish Point, and less than 30 minutes from St. Ignace (and the ferry to Mackinac Island).
The cottage is very well kept, clean and provided a spacious environment where we could "spread out" - nobody felt like they were cramped in. The large room upstairs provided a wonderful place to socialize and play board games. The kitchen was very spacious with very good appliances.
Overall a very good experience and I look forward to renting it again.
An amazing stay!
We had an amazing time on our mini vacation for Labor Day Weekend! The house has such a unique set up, the living room area upstairs was very wide open & we had plenty of space. The town of Hessel is adorable and we had fun checking out the beach area along with the small grocery store & the islander. We were able to explore Mackinac Island for a day which was only a short drive to St. Ignace. And we drove north to Pictured Rocks National Park for a day, which was beautiful! I would highly recommend staying at this house in this very sweet town.
