City of New Orleans STR License
Built in the early 1900s, this classic New Orleans double was completely rebuilt after Katrina. All new kitchens and appliances. You'll love cooking family meals here as much as we do. A lovely private backyard with patio is a wonderful place for kids to play and adults to gather. The house is located less than a mile from Tulane, easy walking distance for games, and much better than trying to find parking on game day! We're just 2 blocks from the St. Charles Streetcar which will take you on a scenic tour of the city through Uptown and the Garden District on your way to Downtown and the French Quarter.

About Rodney & Marnie
Rodney is a film professional who works around the world wherever the camera goes. Marnie is a do-gooder who works at a non-profit that helps children of differing abilities. We spend too much time in Los Angeles and as much time as we can in our favorite city New Orleans.
Rodney & Marnie purchased this House in 2014
Why Rodney & Marnie chose Marlyville - Fontainebleau
We fell in love with the classic New Orleans styling of this house. We especially love sitting on the balcony and enjoying a cocktail at sunset.
What makes this House unique
Location is everything. Our house is far enough from the action of the city to be relaxing but close enough to get to the great food and fun of the French Quarter quickly when the mood hits us.

The home was very comfortable and clean. Homes well stocked with all needed items for a great stay!
Homeowners were very responsive to all of our questions about home and local area. I’d lived in New Orleans previously and was now bringing spouses family to area for the first time to celebrate Xmas. The home was warm and inviting and well stocked for large dinners with family. Great experience and a huge success with family! I would recommend this home to anyone needing a larger space for family gatherings.
We're so glad you enjoyed your time at our home. Thank you for your kind review. Please come back again sometime!
Terribly disappointed - beautiful house but roaches *everywhere* and A/C not sufficient
We rented this house for a 3 night stay in July 2017. Upon arrival we were initially impressed at the spaciousness and design of the duplex. The temperature was a little warm (77 degrees F) which we attributed to the air conditioning not being turned on early enough in advance to cool the large house. As young children were on the trip-- they quickly spread out to play on the floor and carpet. It took about 10 minutes before we discovered the first roach. We didn't panic, and assumed this was not a sign of things to come. Given the price tag of thousands of dollars for 3 nights we ASSUMED that the house did not have a major roach infestation. When we returned to the house that evening and flipped on the lights in the kitchen, we saw at least 10 roaches scatter. We also realized the house was cooler downstairs but 80F upstairs. We immediately contacted the owners. The next day, they sent a cleaning crew over to spray for bugs. The crew noted problems with the A/C. That night-without any warning, an A/C technician showed up to fix the A/C. This kept the house cool for Saturday night, but by Sunday, the temperatures upstairs were back to 80F. During the 3 night visit, we were forced to constantly wash and Clorox down everything. Keep the children off the floor-- wrap food/snacks/paper products in trash bags. There were roaches literally in the dishwasher and the toaster. It was disgusting.
Under no circumstances would I recommend anyone rent this house without real assurance from the owners that they have actually taken care of the problems. We paid thousands of dollars for 3 nights in what looked like a beautiful large home. For that price point dealing with roaches and terrible A/C is absolutely unacceptable. While the owners have offered to refund part of the cost-- it doesn't resolve the frustration and inconvenience that we experienced during our stay. We were traveling to New Orleans during a very busy festival -- it would have been impossible for us to find another place large enough to accommodate our party. We made the best of our trip-- but for the amount of money we paid-- we certainly expected a pest-free, air conditioned home....and to further aggravate the circumstances... we have to segregate our bags as we unpack to make sure we don't transfer the roaches to our private homes. This is both time consuming and annoying.
The best response we can make to this review is to ask potential guests to read the vast preponderance of positive reviews for our house. (please see reviews for single unit VRBO listing #675897) Regrettably, a confluence of unfortunate events occurred during this guest's stay. A massive rainstorm seems to have driven some roaches into the house. A breakdown in air conditioning occurred. These unfortunate events were addressed swiftly and definitively. We had professionals on the site to deal with both situations within hours of reports. While we can't control all events, we can and do control how we respond to them. We understand the incredible inconvenience that this guest endured, which is why we refunded nearly half of the rent they paid. With this particular guest, it seems that no response, no matter how effective, would have been sufficient. We keep a clean and well-maintained house. We have a contract with a pest control company and have the property serviced every month. Air conditioning is serviced regularly. In fact, this unit was serviced less than six weeks before this incident. Judging the totality of reviews, it is clear that our efforts keep the vast majority of guests very happy with our house. Unfortunately, this guest was the one out of hundreds who had a bad experience.
1st Trip to NOLA
I would highly recommend this house to anyone visiting New Orleans. We rented the entire house for 14 girls and it was plenty of room. The house was exactly as pictured and super clean when we arrived. The backyard was perfect for hanging out when we were tired of being downtown.
The house was in a nice location as well. You're not far from the airport and it was a 10 - 15 min Uber ride to downtown and the street car is within walking distance from the house if you decided to use that.
Overall we loved it!
Great house in the middle of New Orleans area.
Great duplex for big families. Parking area can fit 4 mid size cars. There's 2 kitchen and a beautiful backyard to hang out. Remember to bring insects repellant in the summer. Great outside porch to sit and chill. Overall, great place for big family.
Great house especially for a group
The house was exactly as pictured. Nicely decorated with the details and architecture of an older home. The combination of the two houses worked great for our group of 12 adults. Rodney was very responsive to any questions. We had a minor issue with the door that was resolved pretty efficiently. The location was convenient to the street car. Also, plenty of room for off-street parking for 3 rental cars. We all agreed we'd happily stay here again.
We're happy you enjoyed your stay and we'll be happy to have you back the next time you come to New Orleans!

This beautiful house is in the East Carrollton district, near Tulane, Xavier, and Loyola Universities. Good restaurants are nearby, as is the St. Charles Streetcar that will take you through the Garden District on your way to downtown and the French Quarter.
