Beautiful Lake House at Deep Creek
Almost Gone was absolutely perfect. Lovely house and property on DCL. We swam off the dock, kayaked and boated all day. The house has beautiful outdoor spaces for enjoying the view of the lake and talking. There is ample deck space on the lake side with lots of seating, and a covered porch on the side of the house. The area is very nice, too - house is secluded with trees all around. Neighboring houses and cove on lake are beautiful. Inside, the house is great, fully stocked, comfortable and great views of the water.
Mike was a great host. Family of four - parents and kids all loved the stay.
Great time at Deep Creek Lake
We had a wonderful time. The house was great—very clean and had a really nice feel and a fantastic deck. Also, great appliances and a BIG TV. TV came in very handy on rainy days. Owner was very accessible and communicative and gave us lots of great tips regarding boat rentals and things to do in the area. Swallow Falls State Park was very impressive and only 20 minutes from the house. Definitely go in your bathing suit and wear Tevas or some sort of water shoes. We plan to visit again in the future.
Our experience at Almost Gone was incredible. The house was immaculate, with ALL the amenities you could ask for! The appliances are new, the beds are comfy and we loved our stay. The kayaks were a lot of fun. Our kids had a great time swimming off the dock as well. The deck overlooking the lake was heavenly. Mike was a great host and easy to communicate with. We CANNOT wait to come back to Almost Gone!
This was our first getaway since Quarantine began in March. To say it was a breath of fresh air is an understatement. My family of 5 and our two dogs stayed at this beautiful lakefront home, and it was the perfect size for our needs. It was also great that we could rent for less than the 7 days that most Deep Creek houses require.
We were able to rent a pontoon boat from Silver Tree Marina for two days, and it was easy to tie in to the dock at the house. Loved exploring the lake by boat, but the view from the deck was beautiful as well.
The house was very clean, and was supplied with everything we needed, including firewood, charcoal and lighter fluid, paper towels, soap, garbage bags, and dish washing detergent.
We brought our own bedspreads, due to CoVid recommendations, but the other linens were supplied and the beds were very comfortable.
Michael, the owner, was extremely helpful and approachable. We hope to return soon!
Cozy and clean!!
We had a wonderful trip- this lake house/cabin is like a big warm hug. We spent 3 chilly nights (for June!) and enjoyed every minute. The home is super clean, with comfy sofa and mattresses, and a well-stocked kitchen (we cooked all of our meals there) with newer appliances than the photos show (stove/dw/fridge/microwave). The descriptions and pics are all accurate otherwise.
The rustic and cozy ambiance plus the views create a very serene environment; you feel like you are in the home of a friend. I personally loved all the antiques and decor - it felt like there had been many happy family moments spent in this house, and we were glad to contribute our own. This is a solid, well-stocked and well-cared for place. It had wifi and Prime/Netflix, books, games, kayaks/vests, and many more things you don't usually get in a VRBO (we've rented at least 20 homes through VRBO), but it was the little things like seeing the trees from every window, the cool art on the walls and windows, the rocking adirondack chairs on the deck, the sunrises, that made it extra special to me.
The owner is very gracious and a great communicator, and the whole process was easy from start to finish. The COVID19 procedures he put into place made me feel extra comfortable about staying; the owner is truly concerned for his guests and his cleaning team. Just a stand up guy all around.
My family of four loved using the double-kayaks, jumping off the dock into the water, hiking at Swallow Falls (amazing), and playing with our lab in the yard and water. There is so much to do in the area. It's a wonderful place for a family trip and we would love to return! Thanks for sharing your home.
Definitely don't miss hiking at Swallow Falls/Herrington Manor state park, the hike and the waterfalls and bathing pools are spectacular among old growth forests.
