About John C. Barrow

Over the last 17 years, Marcia and Steve Shawler, along with their two children, have been coming to Cashiers as their second home destination. They started out with a goat farm up on Cullowhee Mountain and have since fixed up several different homes in the area. Recently they have made Cashiers their full time home. They enjoy buying interesting properties with acreage. They also love to hike and golf in Cashiers and have family get-togethers.

Having recently sold a house in a farm setting, Marcia and Steve decided to move closer to town and came across Plymouth Rock Cottage. It has a wonderful location right in town with a big yard. It felt so relaxing they immediately got it under contract for a vacation rental.

What makes this cottage unique

In the heart of charming Cashiers Village, this immaculately maintained, stylishly decorated cottage is within walking distance of the Village Green, shopping and dining. In the middle of all the action, yet, nestled on over an acre, the grassy yard provides play area for children and (small) dogs, fire pit and small stream. Two car garage and additional storage area in lower level.

Excellent cottage stay

This was our first VRBO experience and we had a great stay. This cottage was clean, well maintained, and very well furnished. The location for visiting both Cashiers and Highlands is excellent.

We can highly recommend this unit for those wanting a place to stay in the mountains.

Great Escape

We came for a long weekend to enjoy the cool mountain air. Unfortunately, it was very hot but nevertheless we thoroughly enjoyed the house. The house was spacious, it was decorated very nice, and the beds were very comfortable. The home was ideally located, quiet and tranquil yet within walking distance to town. We would rent again.

Well appointed comfortable cottage in Cashiers

Our family of five spent several great days hiking in Cashiers and the surrounding area. The cottage was well appointed, very comfortable, immaculate and in a great location for accessing all that Cashiers has to offer. John was excellent to work with booking the property. He responded quickly, answered all of our questions, and even left a lovely welcome basket for us to enjoy.
