Blissful two weeks for family getaway

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful house right on Lake Oscawanna-- perfect for swimming, canoeing, deer-watching and hiking. The kitchen had everything we could possibly need; also there was a huge gas grill on the deck. Furniture was extremely comfortable (and clean), and there were lots of books and games. Swings and basketball equipment were a bonus.

We were a family of six, from 2 to 70 years old, and we had a ball. The house is well-located for exploring the Garrison-Cold Spring area; we went over to Storm King Art Center, but we never made it to West Point (next time). The whole area was so lush and green that it was a real retreat from the heat and humidity 60-odd miles south. The temperature was extremely comfortable as well; we hardly had to use the air conditioning.

Ellen was a great hostess. It's an accomplishment to maintain a house like this, that's welcoming and comfortable from the minute you open the door. Thank you!

Fun & relaxing vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic vacation week at this lake house. Location is private and quiet. House is comfortable & has just about everything you need. If you love to swim, kayak, hike or just sit and soak in nature on the waterfront than this is the house to be. Road ends a few houses down and turns into the Appalachian Trail so there is no traffic and it was a nice road to do my daily run on every day.

A Great Place to Be

  • 5 of 5

We rented this very comfortable, well-stocked house for a week this summer. For our enjoyment, inside were books, games, and TV/DVD; outside, as well as a wonderful view of the lake, were kayaks, a canoe, swings, and hiking paths. It felt so good to be there, and we liked it so much, we rented it for another week.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your review! I always want people to enjoy the house and lake, and it's clear you were happy. I hope you'll rent again -- the winter is also a special time at the lake...

Great week at Lake Oscawana

  • 5 of 5

My family had a great week at this large, comfortable lake front house! The waterfront is perfect for all ages to swim, fish and boat. Mornings are quiet & peaceful, the best time to watch the heron, ducks and deer or just fish off the dock. There are games, books and cable to keep everyone busy at night. The house and property is well maintained, private and has just about everything you will need. The trail down the road was used for morning runs. Kayaks were used daily and on our last day we found "Lost River". The nature at Lake Oscawana is awesome.

Three-Days of Peace

  • 5 of 5

My family spent three days at this lake-front cottage. The home was huge, clean, and stocked with everything you need to make yourself feel at home. We did a lovely hike just steps from the house and the little deli place down the road made things even easier. Also nice that the home is nearly at the end of a road, so very little traffic. Though close to NYC, you will feel a million miles away when you look out the windows or sit on the deck. Want to stay again in the summer.

The property was as listed in excellent condition, a few minor concerns were immediately addressed by the owner with repairs made within a few short hours. We were staying at the house through Super Storm Sandy even though we were out of power for only a few days the back up generator was greatly appreciated. I would recommend this property to everyone, such a beautiful location and so quiet.
