Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Completed in 2005, Casa Sofia is a gracious & luxurious two-story, three-bedroom house. When you enter Casa Sofia, you will be struck by the views. The whole house opens onto a huge patio overlooking Sayulita bay. Unique to Casa Sofia are the expansive, Catalan-style vaulted ceilings over the living room, kitchen, and bedroom of the top floor, built by craftsmen brought in from central Mexico.

Casa Sofia’s top floor is comprised of the house’s large, fully-equipped main kitchen, two dining-rooms (one inside and one under a huge palapa on the patio for al fresco dining), a living-room with two couches, a sun patio, and a one bedroom/bathroom suite with a king-sized bed. The two built-in couches in the living room can accommodation two additional guests.

Through two huge French doors, the whole of the top floor opens on to the patio and view of the ocean, which can be seen from all the rooms. Through an internal staircase, you enter Casa Sofia’s lower level, where there are two bedroom/full bathroom suites (each with king-sized beds), a small kitchen/dining area, and a huge covered patio with a couch, chairs, dining table – and views of the ocean. It is virtually a two-bedroom house of it’s own on one floor.

Casa Sofia will allow you to accommodate your large group or family under one roof while providing the maximum in space, privacy, and comfort. Guest of Casa Sofia will have access to our shared pool.

What sets Casa Higuera/Casa Sofia apart are their beachfront location, gorgeous ocean views, and spacious and attractive design. Our highly coveted southside location on Sayulita’s best hill overlooks the bay and is just steps away from both beach and village.

Gorgeous and private tropical getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just spent a week at Casa Sofia with our 3 children: ages, 20, 18, and 11. What an amazing place!

The villas and grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Better than the pictures even. Probably the best part were the 2 patios at our place. We could sit out there all day and night. So relaxing with spectacular views. Walk down the steps to the beach and down the back path to town. No need for a car. The town is charming and every meal we ate was excellent. This would be a great rental for 3 couples as well. Aaron the owner was so nice and helpful, as was his staff. All I can say is, this place is breathtaking! So glad we found it.

Exceptional Place for a Relaxing Week

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Casa Sofia for a week away from it all (including our children!). It was such a wonderful place to spend time. The house is well furnished and affords a commanding view of the bay. We spent many an hour lying out in the shade of the veranda on lounge chairs, listening to the surf and reading. It's easy walking distance from downtown, which is chock full of amazing restaurants, and the beach, which has beautiful sand, many lounge chairs and warm water. The pool is beautiful and refreshing as well, halfway down the stairs on the way to the beach. We can't recommend it enough. The owners are easy to talk with and very helpful, as is the staff on property. One surprise was the variety of activities offered in the town. We'll definitely be back!

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

From the taxi driver who collected us (as recommended by the owners of Casa Higuera), to the property, the view from our balcony, the pool, how close it was to town and the beach, I can't rate this place highly enough. The elderly or disabled may struggle with steep stairs to the beach or the hill to town - but for most people it won't be a problem at all and having walked around town a lot every day I think it has the best location in Sayulita. The house is gorgeous in terms of decoration, cleanliness and has all the things you need for cooking - although restaurants in Sayulita are so good you will want to eat out! Thanks for our stay.

A grand choice!

  • 5 of 5

Made a great choice!

We have been home a few weeks now to savor the super memories of our three-gen family and close friends at Casa Sofia and Casitas #1 and #6 at Casa Higuera in Sayulita. A veritable paradise--after luxuriating in the beauty of this place with amazing plant life, sweet walkways, brilliant mariposas, constant birdsong, color, fragrance...we scratched the Puerto Vallarta botanical gardens from our list of to-do's. The openness of the houses and balconies offers outdoor living in the best sense. The design is so aesthetically pleasing and comfortable both outside and in, and the collections of art and artesanía add whimsy and life! We are grateful for the chance to stay at wonderful "Casa Higuera/Sofia." The location is the best of Sayulita--our grand kids could try out their surfing initiation, we could spend hours at Playa Los Muertos, no trouble getting someone to run for more yogurt or Pacífico down the beautiful zig-zag pathway to the tienditas. With Portland guest friends sprinkled around town from the north beach, to mid-town and up gringo hill, we saw lots of great options which convinced us that we had made a grand choice!

Amazing Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We've recently returned from our second stay in Sayulita, at this property. After walking the town and talking to others who are staying in other parts of town we have concluded that we have found the perfect property to return to, year after year. Casa Higuera (and it's sister-house, Casa Sofia) and the 6 studio casitas is located in town but just far enough removed that the noise and fanfare of town is buffered. To walk to the beach you go down a few stairs of your own gated property and you are there (2 min). To walk to town you go down other stairs to town (2min). We'd notice other people setting up on the beach for the day and ensuring they had brought the entire load of surfboards, beach stuff. Not us, we were so close we just ambled back and forth to our house. And the house, the view, the amenities (has it's own private pool for those that stay there)- ocean views are stellar, cool breezes are yours, the owners decorate with local artisan touches. It is fantastic!
