19th Century Log Cabin with Modern Conveniences

Bedrooms 2
Half Baths1
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 3-5)

This is a traditional log cabin with modern amenities. It is tucked away among the mountains at an elevation of 2370 feet with breezes whispering among the hardwoods. The situation provides a feeling of great seclusion, yet you are only a quarter mile from a lake (visible in winter) and are only three miles from the quaint village of Saluda, North Carolina, with quaint shops, restaurants, and old-time general stores. It is as if you stepped more than a century back in time.

You are a mere ten miles from the Flat Rock Playhouse (live theater) and the Carl Sandberg home. The largest private home in America, the fabulous Biltmore House, is a mere half hour away on your side of Asheville. All the other possible mountain activities are nearby except downhill skiing, and even it is not very distant. Or, if you merely want to rest and rusticate, simply curl up with a good book on the screened front porch or the open and leafy back deck of the cabin and forget the outside world. There is an air conditioner, but it is seldom needed.

Charming, Rustic and Peaceful.

This cabin is nestled on a mountainside inside a community built around the small private lake. Although it feels a million miles away from it all, you are really just a short drive from the bustling Main Street of Saluda, where you will find lots of shops , restaurants, gem mines and outfitters. You are also within a days drive of most of the major mountain attractions of Biltmore, Chimmney Rock, Cherokee, and numerous lakes, rivers, trails and state parks. The cabin is simple, with modern amenities and clean. My favorite place was the comfy chairs on the screened front porch under a tin roof listening to the rain and sounds of nature all around me. Thank You to the hosts for such a lovely stay.

Beautiful area

  • 3 of 5

It was a nice stay at this cabin. A little disconcerting as they were drilling a new well 15' from the front door. The cabin was adequate and had pretty much everything we needed. Weather turned cold but the heat worked well. Close to Saluda and only 10 minutes from Hendersonville. Not a lot of places to hang coats or clothes. Bring hangers and you'd have use of the two closets. For the price I'd stay there again most likely.

Quaint, Cozy and Restful Stay

  • 5 of 5

My family and I really enjoyed staying in this cabin. The location was perfect and not far from anything. We were able to travel to Asheville in no time. Loved riding down the street a ways to check out downtown Saluda, which was not far at all from the cabin. The cabin was clean and cozy and had everything that we needed for a quite weekend stay. I hope to be able to rent this cabin again in the future.

My wife and I and our three oldest grandchildren (ages 3, 4, & 5) absolutely our stay in this cabin.

  • 5 of 5

Everything was exactly as advertised. We loved the cabin and the surrounding area. Saluda and Lake Hosea are beautiful. Our grandchildren are already talking about next year's trip to pick apples and a return visit to "The Cabin."
