This is a traditional log cabin with modern amenities. It is tucked away among the mountains at an elevation of 2370 feet with breezes whispering among the hardwoods. The situation provides a feeling of great seclusion, yet you are only a quarter mile from a lake (visible in winter) and are only three miles from the quaint village of Saluda, North Carolina, with quaint shops, restaurants, and old-time general stores. It is as if you stepped more than a century back in time.
You are a mere ten miles from the Flat Rock Playhouse (live theater) and the Carl Sandberg home. The largest private home in America, the fabulous Biltmore House, is a mere half hour away on your side of Asheville. All the other possible mountain activities are nearby except downhill skiing, and even it is not very distant. Or, if you merely want to rest and rusticate, simply curl up with a good book on the screened front porch or the open and leafy back deck of the cabin and forget the outside world. There is an air conditioner, but it is seldom needed.

The cabin is owned by Allan and Mimi Charles. He is a semi-retired college professor, and she is a semi-retired medical technologist. They live 50 miles from the cabin in Pacolet, SC. (Lake Hosea is the chief headwater of the Pacolet River, which flows near their home.)
We stayed at the cabin for a week in November 2015 to celebrate our first anniversary, my husband's birthday, and Thanksgiving. It was perfect! The cabin had everything we needed and was secluded and quiet. There was plenty to do in town and we enjoyed antiquing from Tryon to Hendersonville. We have booked it again for a long weekend in October and can't wait. The owners were a joy to work with, responding quickly to email and being very flexible as our travel plans changed. I would recommend this as a perfect getaway.
We had a wonderful weekend in this adorable cabin. It was cozy for 4 people, but we didn't need much. It was a great way to escape the stresses of the outside world. The cabin's owner was extremely helpful. I find myself day-dreaming about this cabin and strolling around Lake Hosea. Would love to return soon!
My wife and I came for her birthday weekend, and hated to leave!! The Lake Hosea HOA made us feel so welcomed. The weather, cabin, and fishing was great. So quiet and relaxing. We didn't even watch the tv the entire time!! We will definitely be back.
My husband and I, along with our cocker spaniel, Chloe, spent a week in this little cabin. It was delightful!! The area was very quiet. There was access to a private lake within walking distance but relaxing on the deck was wonderful too!! We took day trips all around the area...including visits to Asheville, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Pisgah National Forest, Dupont State Forest (where some scenes from The Hunger Games Movie were filmed) and South Carolina. The owners obviously care about their guests; it is obvious from the touches they provide. And...yes we survived without cable and internet! The serenity was beautiful!!! We highly recommend!!
We stayed her in May 2014. The cabin is big, great screened in porch, well equipped kitchen, a/c in bedroom. Lake Hosea was originally built and developed by my grandfather, and my family lived here for many years. Staying in this cabin brought back the peaceful serenity of the Lake. Quiet, in the woods, nice walk down to the lake. We plan to return. The owners were extremely helpful, as the family had gathered as a memorial to my Mom who recently passed. We all enjoyed ourselves and it accomadated a large group of people comfortably for a meal.
My friends, dog and I had a wonderful weekend getaway at the cabin. It was a perfect little escape. Great hiking and waterfalls close by, Saluda is adorable and the cabin was delightful. We ate breakfast on the deck and enjoyed the breeze on the front porch. This was a great place to stay and we would definitely come back!
Renters will have the privilege of using private, 6-acre Lake Hosea for swiming and fishing, (Boaters will have to furnish their own boat; No motors allowed).
