This new luxury home has spectacular views nearly 360 degrees. The home site is on top of a ridge, overlooking bays, islands and the Olympic Mountains to the south and west and over Victorian Valley and Mount Constitution to the east. The 17 acre property has its own one acre pond. Bald eagles and other birds, deer, rabbits, bullfrogs, and an array of other wildlife abound on the property.
The house has two cedar decks on the south and west exposures and a slate patio on the east. Cathedral ceilings are used throughout the house with radiant floor heating in all rooms. The ultra-modern kitchen has a Dacor oven/range, granite counters and a central island. There is both a fireplace and woodstove. The master bathroom has a jacuzzi, two sinks, and a large, customized shower, tiled in India slate.
Large windows are everywhere to maximize the views, and additional light is afforded by skylights and clerestory windows. The house has satellite TV, VCR, DVD, CD player, and wireless internet access. Several bicycles are available in the garage for use by renters.
The driveway comes off a scenic private road which winds through Victorian Valley and is a pleasant place to stroll and jog. Nearby access to the water affords opportunities for whale watching tours, kayaking, sailing and fishing. Orcas Island is famous for its biking, and hiking and mountain biking trails abound in Moran State Park and Turtleback Mountain.
Eastsound with its quaint shops and restaurants is just seven miles away, and other villages, galleries, pottery shops, beaches, inns, and restaurants are scattered throughout the island.

Well-appointed house with gorgeous views
This Orcas Island house was a pleasure to stay at - the cozy sitting areas, well-appointed kitchen, quiet bedrooms and gorgeous views made for a memorable stay, despite less than ideal weather. Our group of 4 adults and 2 kids had plenty of room and we’ll definitely be looking for reasons to return here again!
We'll be back...
I am losing track of how many time we have stayed on Blacktail Ridge - maybe a half dozen? It is ALL good; The house, the views, privacy, peace & quiet. If you need some quiet time in paradise, this is the place.
Peaceful, quiet, had everything we needed to fix nice meals, indoor and outdoor. Gorgeous view. Owner is very accommodating and helpful.
Stunning view overlooking the islands. Immaculate and spacious accommodations. Nestled among nature and walking trails. We didn't want to leave! Lots of nooks for reading, playing games or strumming a guitar. Nice to unplug and watch the sunset. Owner was very responsive and helpful.
Perfect Place on Orcas Island
We couldn't have been more pleased with our choice of this home for our Orcas Island stay. Amazing views were our top priority, and this place has them! Often, I am skeptical of the pictures chosen to represent views, but in this case, I think the real thing even surpassed the photos. Sitting on the deck watching the water, rows of tree-covered islands, snow-capped mountains, and incredible sunsets was our favorite "activity".
The home itself is lovely - it somehow manages to feel very comfortable and cozy while also feeling light and spacious, with high ceilings and light coming in, surrounded by nature in every direction.
Andy was an excellent host - left useful directions and suggestions and was accessible if needed.
If we are fortunate enough to return to Orcas Island, this will be our first choice of places to stay.
East Coast visitors
My friends and I enjoyed this truly lovely, well appointed home. You do need a car, however the Island and ferries are easy to navigate. We enjoyed hiking, kayaking, and simply relaxing as we all have busy lives. We are old friends, now all in different east coast states, and this was a great place to spend time together and enjoy each others company. The views are amazing. Highly recommended.
