Cozy, comfortable & close to everywhere

  • 5 of 5

It has been a very nice experience !!! It’s a place in which we had what you expect to have when you are in a trip like this: kitchen very well equiped, bed clothing clean and cozy;, grill, table games for enjoying at night.... Karen was amazing: easy to coordinate with her, accessible and thoughtful in every single detail she left at the house for us ... special thanks to Karen !!!!

A little bit concerned about the deposit refund which is not effective as said in 7 days... seems it takes at least 2 weeks, but this is about vrbo

Spacious and Comfortable

  • 3 of 5

We wanted to stay in the heart of Travelers Rest and this location certainly didn't disappoint. It was very convenient to town and the Swamp Rabbit Trail. However, it was at the corner of two fairly busy streets so it was a bit noisy and didn't have much outdoor/outside ambiance. The house was very spacious, the beds were very comfortable, and the linens were quite nice. The kitchen was quite well equipped. We wish there had been a bit more lamps/lighting in the living room and bedroom and more electrical outlets. Karen was a pleasure to work with and was very responsive.

Great house in a bad location

  • 3 of 5

We were very excited when we arrived at the house. It is very spacious and clean, with an amazing kitchen, comfy beds and a nice front porch. Our disappointment came when we realized that the physical location of the house was on a very busy, very noisy corner. Couldn't sit outside and enjoy the porch with cars driving past constantly. At night, sirens, cars with muffler issues, and traffic noises interfered with our sleep. The location as far as being easily accessible to Greenville and dining and shopping was good; house and that would be 5 stars! but the actual location was really about 2 stars, so I settled on 3. Oh, and if you like to watch TV while on vacation, there were the barest minimum of channels available.

Owner's Response: "TR" (Travelers Rest) is still a small burg, boasting it's quaint, picturesque and charming community. We have stayed in this property extensively and We have slept comfortably and through the nights and I am an extremely light sleeper. After we've enjoyed a run on the Swamp Rabbit Trail, we often spend hours enjoying the front porch sipping on a glass of wine or a beer watching other runners, walkers and bicyclists and the view of Paris Mountain in the Fall and Winter as well.

A True Haven From The Storm!

  • 5 of 5

Earlier this month, Hurricane Irma's path shifted overnight and instead of hitting FL's East coast it headed straight for us on the West side. We had to evacuate our home in a matter of hours. It is extremely difficult to pack up a family of 6 into an F150, with just the bare necessities, and drive away not knowing if you will ever see your home standing again. Plus add 5 dogs to that and you really can't take much with you. At 4am on Sunday as I sat in my truck keeping an eye on my dogs in a hotel parking lot, stressed out beyond belief, I had no idea where our family would take refuge from the storm.

I called Home Away and they said that they didn't do same day reservations but that I could try to contact owners through email. This was the first listing I saw, the name was so right! We were extremely exhausted travelers needing rest.

I emailed Karen and at 5 am I got a call from her. It was like having an angel on the other side of the phone. She was willing to let us come in that same day, and more importantly she was very sweet and compassionate in letting me talk about the stressful situation we found ourselves in. She said: "Come up, I will have the house ready and you can get settled before the storm hits on Monday."

We drove North for another 5 hours and found ourselves at this great home! The house is very clean, and has all of the things needed to have a very comfortable stay. The beds have high quality linens and mattresses, it is also nicely decorated. Karen also helped us set up a safe place for our dogs, who by the way are not inside dogs, they are working farm dogs who live outside with the livestock. They were safe from the storm and once the sky cleared they were able to use the outside kennel.

We were so thankful that we never lost power and we were able to sleep soundly and feel safe for the first time in days! There are stores within minutes of the house and we were able to get food to fill the fridge and have homemade meals every day. We decided to stay until we found out that power was back on at our house because I am on oxygen 24/7 and my machine has to practically be plugged in all of the time. Plus it gave us time to let the returning traffic clear up.

By mid week we felt better and drove to Paris Mountain State Park, it was lovely! Our flat land kids loved hiking around the park and seeing the dam and the mountain top lake. I definitely recommend this home. Thank you Karen for helping us in our time of need!

Owner's Response: We are honored to have met you and your family! When we started hosting our properties on Vrbo two years ago we had no idea that we'd become a safe haven for hurricane evacuees. Last year we hosted several families in several properties for Hurricane Matthew evacuees from the SC coastline. This year we hosted families fleeing from Florida and Hurricane Irma. It's so gratifying to not only host people vacationing, who are in the area on work assignments but also those so dearly in need. We were happy to hear that you extended your stay to try to relax and enjoy the local mountains (for the first time for your children)!
