Hush...listen...do you hear the screech of the bald eagles, swooping low to the dark waters to catch a salmon? Do you hear the bark of the seals, basking in the late afternoon sun on the docks and piers along the waters edge or the cacophony of crows fighting over clams? Breathe in the delicious aroma of mounds of lavender mingled with the fresh salt air as you relax at the Port Orchard Bayview Beach Cottage.
Everything good about the Pacific Northwest comes alive when you stroll across the large, covered porch of the Bayview Beach Cottage. It’s a rare gem awaiting you and those you’re traveling with, nestled on the water's edge of peaceful Sinclair Inlet, in Port Orchard, WA, and just a ferry ride away from the skyline of downtown Seattle.
Built in 1918 and restored several times since then, this beach cottage is the quintessential experience for anyone wishing to escape the madness of our modern world without giving up any of the comforts. Three well-appointed guest rooms, a large parlor for entertaining and a fully-stocked kitchen will meet your needs, while also benefiting from more modern luxuries like high speed Wifi and modern appliances.
Walk on the 170 feet of private beach, collect sun-bleached clam shells, or try your hand at paddle boarding in the Bay (arrange with the owners in advance and plan to use a dry suit, as the water is chilly year around).
Located less than three miles from quaint Port Orchard, WA, the Bayview Beach Cottage is lush with history, charm and beauty. The main level living room/meeting room features hand-hewn log beams, harvested from the property at the turn of the century, milled on-site and used to create a warm and inviting space in which to let your creative juices flow. Nestled on a forested hillside, the Cottage has a patio in the back with enough tables and chairs to accommodate 16 for your outdoor entertaining.
The Bayview Beach Cottage has three sleeping rooms upstairs and a shared bathroom:
"Suite Dreams" - the first room at the top of the rustic pine staircase, will wrap your weary heart in love as you fall asleep listening to the waves of the Puget Sound and the ferry boats quietly slipping by. Suite Dreams has a queen size bed that can sleep two and a trundle bed that has two twin-sized mattresses.
"Wings of Love" - a second sleeping room down the long hall that serves as an art gallery for local painters, including some of Delilah's original art work, as well. This delightful room will wrap you in "wings of love" as you rest amidst paintings of feathered friends and antique bird cages. Gaze out the windows and watch the bald eagles and seagulls dance above the waves of Puget Sound. Wings of Love has an antique brass queen-size bed, brass twin bed and a twin rollaway.
Lavendar Fields" – the third and largest room at the end of the hallway. It features a California King-size bed nestled in an antique wrought iron headboard, as well as a comfortable seating area with plenty of books to choose from. This room allows you to feel the breeze from the Sound as you curl up and get lost in your favorite story. Author Debbie Macomber's "Cedar Cove" series is written about Port Orchard and Sinclair Inlet. You can read her touching stories as you gaze out the window upon the natural beauty that inspired them. Her home is less than a mile from the Bayview Beach Cottage and her wonderful restaurant, "The Tea Room", and yarn shop is less than 3 miles in distance.
Bayview Beach Cottage is perfect for small retreats, intimate outdoor weddings, family reunions and weekend getaways. If all beds are used in the three sleeping rooms, the house can accommodate 10-12. For couples choosing private rooms, six persons.
Artists can gather to paint in plain air on the porch or the beach. Knitters and crafters can shop at Debbie's Macomber's yarn shop and then create! Best friends can bond as they talk heart to heart. Womens' groups may gather to pray and worship, (a well-tuned upright piano awaits your fingertips!) and men can rest before departing early to golf the famous Gold Mountain course or fish the bountiful rivers and streams on the Kitsap Peninsula.
Want to pick wild blackberries? Come in July! Collect polished glass in Port Townsend? It’s just one hour away! Visit the wildlife reserve in Sequim? It’s just 40 miles away. You may wish to hike the multitudes of trails and explore the many parks and beaches of Kitsap Peninsula, which is just mere minutes from your front door. Do all these things and more, then return to rest and reinvigorate at the Bayview Beach Cottage.
