About the property

4 Bedrooms, 3.5 Baths, Sleeps 10

“Northstar” is a snow lover’s dream. This 4-bedroom, 3-1/2-bathroom home in Blue River has history and charm to provide the most unique of vacations. Equipped for fun in summer and winter months, one of the most endearing features of this property is the outdoor space it provides—complete with a hot tub to soak after a long day outdoors, a swing set, and a pergola to enjoy the fully landscaped surrounding land in summer months. In addition to the space, there are plenty of outdoor games for the guest’s enjoyment; badminton, croquet and horseshoes are a few of the recreational activities to keep all ages entertained. The house sits atop a hill, with views of Northstar Peak. Next to the house is our sledding hill.

Within 10 minutes is world class fishing in the Blue River or South Platte River, alpine and Nordic skiing, golf and the town of Breckenridge. This property stays quiet during all months of the year, but still provides close access to all the recreation Colorado has to offer.

Inside this home awaits a spacious kitchen which opens to a living room/library with a real wood-burning fireplace, so even while cooking everyone’s company can be enjoyed. Move to the living room after cocoa in front of the fire, and a wall of books and flat screen TV provide entertainment for all while vacationing in this rustically-elegant cabin. Outside is a 400 square foot deck with a gas grill and views of Northstar Mountain and the wooded area which surrounds the property. If you’re lucky, you just might see some wildlife stroll by. Adjacent to the library/living rooms is the master bedroom, with a beautiful 100 year old stained-glass window made from colored glasses, beveled glass, jewel glass, and bottle bottom glass. This bedroom has a King-size bed.

Downstairs, there are three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a laundry room. The north bedroom has a queen size bed, two bunk beds, and a 'Baby Bear' wood burning stove. The south bedroom has a queen bed and its own bathroom. The middle bedroom has a queen bed, also.

Atop the garage is our ping pong room with its own TV and stereo for those who want to play or just get away.

Breckenridge Ski Resort is only 10 minutes away, Copper Mountain is only 25 minutes away, and Keystone and Arapahoe Basin are both 30 minutes away. This property is nestled in just the right place to take advantage of recreation all over the county, during all seasons of the year, while also being conducive to activities right where the property sits. The quintessential Colorado vacation awaits you.

Beautiful Property with Spectacular scenery

  • 5 of 5

My family spent two weeks at Northstar in August 2017 and none of us wanted to leave. We found this enchanting place to be exactly as advertised. The house and property are beautifully organized with about every amenity you could want. The kitchen is stocked with plenty of tableware, glasses etc and every small appliance you could need. It is so well stocked, in fact, that there is no cabinet or pantry room for food. We made do with a makeshift pantry we set up with our boxes and coolers and did fine. This was the only negative we had (and it was so minor) with the whole experience. The owner even has an oxygen generator on site to help with altitude. We especially enjoyed the two moose who entered the yard during breakfast one morning to snack on the landscape foliage. We've stayed in a lot of vacation rentals over the years and Northstar is by far our favorite. Thanks to the owner for providing such a wonderful experience. We are already planning for a return trip.

Great place

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week and wished we didn't have to go. The location is convenient to Breckenridge without being on top of others. Blue Lakes is a close by hiking area for those beginner hikers. The house has enough rooms and beds for a large gathering. The kitchen has everything you need to cook a variety of meals. We actually cooked in more than we thought we would. The outside games and the ping pong room brought the family together and away from the electronic devices. One warning: some outside lights are motion sensitive. The fox that walked through the yard a few times a night would turn the lights on. That was a surprise on the first night.

Great Vacation Property

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay, we brought our family together for a week and we had a blast. We had a group of 8 from ages 2 to 53 and everyone had fun and were very comfortable. Plenty of outdoor and indoor activities for the whole family. We ran into town and bought groceries so we had a big breakfast each morning, sandwiches for lunch, cooked out on the grill for dinner and just relaxed on the deck. The location was great for all of our excursions, zip lining, rafting, hiking and shopping! Everything was as advertised!

Great for large groups

  • 5 of 5

My family & I had a small reunion here & it was amazing! There was plenty of space for everyone, the views are unbeatable, & now my sister is planning to have her wedding here! If you are looking for a true mountain experience choose this place. We had so much fun there was a horseshoe pit, a swingset & sandbox for the kids, & a hot tub! We are definitely looking forward to spending more time there when my sister gets married.

Here's a Great House in Just the Right Place

  • 5 of 5

This house is located near the north side of Hoosier Pass, which turned out to be very convenient to Breckenridge, and yet far enough from town that it provides a real mountain experience for residents. Very well maintained and furnished, fully equipped, and a very attentive manager. We were there when it snowed heavily overnight, and the driveway and deck were shoveled out first thing the next morning. WiFi worked well. Lots of board games for kids of all ages. Incredible library of fascinating books. All with wonderful mountain views. Our party ranged from age 5 to 77, and it worked well for everybody. If you have a group that will fit into this house, give it a try. It's a winner.
