The perfect base camp for the riding enthusiasts!

10. Moose Cruise/Wildlife Exploration – The North Maine Woods is one of the only areas where the extremely large and iconic Moose can be frequently seen. One of the best parts about being up at Eagle Point Lodge is hopping in the vehicle and cruising the miles of low traveled logging roads looking for Moose. Until you have seen one of these beautiful creatures up close you will not understand their size and presence. Often you will see cows with there young running around and being playful. Other times you will see huge Bull Moose with massive antlers slowly thrashing there way down the road and into the woods. We encourage all that stay with us spending some time just cruising the roads looking for moose. Many are seen on the ride in and out of Eagle Point Lodge making the ride just as thrilling as the stay sometimes. Do not hesitate to ask us where to cruise for your best chance to see one of these massive famous Maine animals! Also frequently see Deer, Lynx, Bear Cubs, Bald Eagles, Loons and much more wildlife simply hanging at camp or cruising the endless dirt roads of the Northern Maine Woods.

You will not find another full camp/house rental this far up the lake and private with all of today’s modern amenities. Come join us for the perfect private getaway with family and/or friends!

Beautiful, peaceful lake hideaway

  • 5 of 5

For anyone who loves nature and wilderness but doesn't enjoy tent camping and would like to bring their dog, this is the rental for you. The location is in the Moosehead Lake Wildlands on a lovely piece of property. We rented a canoe and were out on the water everyday and canoed up the nearby "stream" to see moose, beavers, deer, and a variety of birds including bald eagles, loons, herons, ducks, geese, and more. So peaceful! We swam off the dock and one night our whole family went out around 10 pm and laid down on the dock to watch the shooting stars. Awesome! Phil was super helpful and very responsive and made our stay very pleasant and had great advice for finding wildlife. We didn't leave the property and just enjoyed our family time together and the beautiful setting. We found Mapquest very accurate on directions but Google Maps not so much. Phil provides written directions too but the road signs are not that great once you begin going around the lake so it was nice to have both. Don't plan on very good cell phone coverage. We have Verizon and had spotty calls and texting and no data but if you know that ahead of time you can just turn the phones off and enjoy the wilderness and each other. The beds were very comfortable and the shower had great hot water and water pressure. Turns out we just missed the black fly season so they weren't too bad and the mosquitoes didn't get bad until dusk. When were out at night on the dock they didn't bother us at all. There is hardly any motor boat traffic on this part of the lake so it was very quiet. At times when we were canoeing we'd just stop and sit and listen to the silence. The "sister" property is next door and shares part of the driveway but is not within sight. The docks are out of sight of each other as well so you feel like you have your own waterfront. While we were there our final night the folks in the cabin just uphill from us (we were in Camp 49 and they were in Camp 50), were shouting back and forth to each other and we could hear them loud and clear, but for the most part, it still feels private. The roads were fine for our 15 year old Honda Odyssey mini-van. One caution, if you are put off by critters or are expecting luxury, this is probably too much in the wilderness for you. If you prefer to have a variety of mixing bowls, casserole dishes, or seasonings, you'll want to bring those along with you, otherwise the kitchen was very serviceable. Our family highly recommends!

Wonderful getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My children are older and it is difficult finding a place that works for everyone but this place had it all - privacy, amenities, and a lake. Even our small dog which we have never taken on a trip, she hung around with us the whole time! Phillip was great and worked with us. Responded to us about boats and even fishing! Amazing trip, we will be back again!

We went here to fish. There was a ton of snow and the ice was thick, but we did catch a salmon and two brook trout!

All the comforts of home in a remote part of Moosehead lake. Easy to find and all the roads were well plowed from Rockwood.
