Turtle Crossing Cottage, a Country home on West Lake, Prince Edward County, is just minutes from Sandbanks Provincial Park. Open year-round our cottage is a perfect getaway for a couple or a group up to to six people.

Step back in time and enjoy a family and pet friendly cottage with its beautiful grounds and marsh lands, combining old world charm with modern rural living.

Family friendly - dogs allowed. Minimum booking is 2 nights.

Fully furnished with 3 bedrooms and one 4pc and another 2pc bathroom. The cottage sleeps 6, maximum occupancy: 6

The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge/freezer, stove, portable dishwasher, water cooler, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and a counter size butcher block. Basic cooking supplies and all glass ware, dishes and cutlery are provided.

Linger over dinner in the beautiful dining room or on the outside patio. Enjoy the company of your friends and/or family playing games or around the outdoor fire pit listening to the country sounds. We provide a bag of firewood for free.

Your mornings will be enjoyed on the screened-in sun room or on the back patio listening to the sounds of the marsh.

1 bedroom is located on the ground level with 1 Queen bed; upstairs are 2 additional bedrooms appointed with 2 extra long Twin beds in each bedroom next to a 4 piece bathroom. All linens and towels are provided. Please bring your own beach towels.

Just 2 minutes from the cottage you can launch your boat; go fishing for Walleye, Bass and Pike on West Lake or enjoy the beaches of Sandbanks Provincial Park.

A convenience store with gas station is located a few houses down from the cottage.

Many excellent restaurants are also located a short drive from the Turtle Crossing Cottage.

An "Adventure Path" has been created to guide you from Turtle Crossing Cottage's ancient forest through the incredible marshland to the shoreline on West Lake (not usable during flooding / high water levels). Here you can launch your kayak and/or canoe and experience the quiet sounds of the West Lake marsh. Or, if you just want to sit at the shoreline it is a perfect place to relax, read a book or fish. Depending on the time of the year, the water level varies, but you can always launch larger boats just 300 meters to the East at the public boat launch.

During High Season, there is a large water park (with kids weekly camps) and a Wake Boarding School just 1 km away. Isaiah Tubbs Resort with restaurant and bar is located 1 km from the cottage with boat rentals; canoe, kayak and other rentals available. You can also asked to be taken and picked up by boat to the sand dunes.

The cottage has convenient parking for up to 4 cars.

What makes this cottage unique

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you, Lawrie and Rainer, for a lovely winter family holiday at Turtle Crossing Cottage. We highly recommend this wonderful century home. It is beautifully decorated and welcoming. The home is fully outfitted for cooking, impeccably organized and thoughtfully presented: games, regional information, fresh flowers, easy access, emergency information and appreciated "how-to" charts where needed.

We had a sweet time wandering the back woods and frozen marsh, and enjoyed a night of live music in downtown Picton. The frozen beaches and ice packs were exceptional along the famous Sandbanks. Stunning, memorable visas.

Great family gift from the kids for a winter excursion. Rosalie and Blaine, Graydon, Lia and Fox.

The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed

  • 4 of 5

The property is in a lovely area. We enjoyed walking to the water through the 'adventure trail'. The cottage is a short distance from wonderful beaches. It was great to explore the immediate area, as well as journey to nearby towns. Rainer and Lawrie were very kind and welcoming, they even provided treats for our dog.

Clean, and neat with everything you need.

  • 4 of 5

Our family of 4 really enjoyed the large backyard and all the outdoor athetic equipment

(badmington, soccer, etc). My 9 & 11 year old were excited to explore the back woods and the path to the lake. At the time of our stay, the path was flooded but it looks to be a great activity when dry. The house was comfortable with all that was needed. The hosts were super hospitable. They welcomed us at the cottage to point out all the conveniences in the rental. Short drive or bike ride to the beautiful Sandbanks Provincial Park.

We loved our week af Turtle Crossing this summer! A lot of space and great amenities nearby.

  • 5 of 5

We were two couples and a dog staying at Turtle Crossing for a week in July. The cottage was clean and the hosts were there to greet us and inform us about activities nearby. The cottage held so many games and activities to do onsite and it was an excellent location for us to go on daily trips around the county. We really appreciated the free use of the Sandbanks Provincial Pass as we spent many afternoons driving the 8 minutes down the road to the beach. We loved the large area out back of the cottage to BBQ dinners and relax around the campfire. Thank you for your hospitality, Rainer and Lawrie!

Turtle Crossing Cottage never disappoints

  • 5 of 5

We returned to Turtle Crossing Cottage this month, our second visit. Prince Edward County is starkly beautiful in the winter, and we loved our walks in nearby Sandbanks provincial park. The cottage is extremely comfortable with everything you need for a lovely stay. There are several towns close by for excellent food or a coffee. The owners are very welcoming. I highly recommend the cottage and will definitely come back.

  • 5 of 5

I highly recommend Turtle Crossing Cottage. It is a great base for exploring Prince Edward County. The home is a really lovely old place, with everything you need on site. The owners were really welcoming of our dog, including providing some dog bowls inside and out! I'd definitely go back. We had a very comfortable stay.
