Description

Crane Hill House Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 2-8)

This home is located at the junction of Ryan and Simpson creeks on the Cullman, I-65 side of Smith Lake. Approximately 15 minutes off I-65, a one hour drive from Birmingham and Huntsville and, with owner supplied maps, a comfortable drive from most Mississippi locations. Situated on a two plus acre, point lot and almost completely surrounded by beautiful Smith Lake water, the home is private, peaceful and quiet.

This 'family oriented' get-away is literally at Water's Edge and every room has a wide view of the lake. Featuring four bedrooms, two full ceramic baths, and main level family room plus downstairs den, it will accommodate two to ten guests. There is also a covered boathouse with swim pier.

Just steps from the cabin, out on the point, is a large covered pavilion with picnic table, lounge chairs and always a cool breeze blowing off the water.

Enjoy a beautiful lake sunset, play a game of horseshoes, read a good book while relaxing at one of our swings or hammocks - or simply sunbathe on the pier. We have it all! We strive to make our guest's visit to beautiful Smith Lake a memorable one!!

Great family vacation place!

  • 5 of 5

The house was very comfortable. Beds were nice, kitchen was well stocked for cooking. Water is very convenient to the house. Dock is good. Dot was very responsive and wanted to be sure everything was as we needed. We enjoyed use of the house, dock, and covered picnic area on the point near the water. Dot and Ellis have their house on the property, although we only briefly saw them during our week there so there was no hovering. They are very friendly. The decks are nice. Overall we had a great time and would be happy to stay here again.

Great Family Get-Away

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful family vacation get-away! This home was perfect for our family of 5 and a couple of friends. Very convenient, spacious, clean, and relaxing. There was something for everyone. We loved sitting out at the pavilion at night and roasting smores in the fire pit, caught some fish right off the shore, and enjoyed the afternoon breeze off the lake as we took some wonderful naps in the hammock. Plenty of room for our boat and two Sea-doos. The property owners, Dot and Ellis, were an absolute delight. I'm sure they will become long term friends. We would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a great family vacation spot on the lake.

Excellent location

  • 4 of 5

Stayed at this property for a weekend. As seen in the picture the house is right on the water with a short walk to the boat dock. The owner, Dot, was super pleasant to work with and even checked on us the first evening to make sure all was well. That being said, the house is dated on the inside. The vinyl flooring is coming up in the kitchen and bath. We tripped several times coming into the house at the kitchen. The deck is really nice but at the time of our visit needed some nail pops attended to, a simple 2 minute job that I would have done if I had a hammer. The house was clean and had everything needed to cook inside and out. We would stay there again BC of the owner and location. We would have given it 5 stars if the inside was updated.

Owner's Response: I am truly sorry to see this review and know that our guests were disappointed. I have called this couple several times, but have not been able to talk with them. We are blessed with a wonderful cleaning team and I personally inspect the entire house before ALL guests arrive. The bathroom and foyer flooring were due for updates....Yes.....but tripping issues.....NO!! We are located in a very hot and humid environment and nails have occasionally popped up on the new decks. We did find two (2) after reading the review and they have been replaced with screws. Fall is the time we bring in contractors to do the repairs/updates. We had contractors in all last week. They put down new flooring in upstairs bathroom & foyer, replaced overhead light/fan in upstairs bathroom, did lots of painting plus several other updates. Thankfully, we have a wonderful couple from Michigan who have booked the lake house for the winter months and they arrived today!! We love our guests and always want them to return. Lots do and many have become like family to us. Thanks to all of you!!

Excellent experience

  • 5 of 5

The unit was clean, and spacious. The owners were onsite, had the opportunity to visit with all of our friends. Very hospitable and accomodating, we were even able to borrow their blender! Great pier, awesome views and water. We were able to bring our boat and doc it under the covered pier.
