About David Dooley, Thierry Lannoy is the Caretaker
I've been a resident for over 20 years and still hold the peacefulness, the beautiful views and extraordinary terrain as some of the most beautiful in the world!
Why David Dooley, Thierry Lannoy is the Caretaker chose Cabo Pulmo
Casa Margarita was a special building project for me and I enjoy the quaint style of the area. The open-air palapa kitchen makes for a wonderful area for family, groups or couples to enjoy. Listen to the sounds of the morning birds and watch extraordinary sunsets from the rooftop.
What makes this House unique
This location is proximal to everything Cabo Pulmo has to offer. It's easy to walk or ride a bike around quaint Cabo Pulmo and to anywhere else you want to go. It is always recommended to have a rental car for your visit, as the distance to the airport is over 1.5 hours. But once here, you can walk to local restaurants and to the beach with ease.

A serene and peaceful oasis
The house is located in the middle of desert. We heard nothing but birds and insects while staying there. Very private and peaceful. There is a spacious outdoor kitchen/living space. Our five and two year-olds enjoyed exploring and running around in the large garden. The facility is rustic and cooking outdoors took some getting-used-to (there are critters running around in the kitchen therefore no food lying around), but that didn’t diminish the great time we had there.
Natural beauty abounds!
Casa Margarita was perfect! We had a private property with lots of birds in the lovely garden and from the roof over the garage. We saw a varied bunting, verdins, hummingbird, orioles, scrub jay, cactus wren, woodpeckers and more. We stargazed at night and enjoyed the peace and sounds of nature. We were close to Cabo Pulmo centro, 2 minute drive. Thiery the on-site manager had an emergency and was not there. We had the place to ourselves, which was very nice. A lovely couple that has lived in Cabo Pulmo for decades and are friends of David showed us around the place and were available for any questions. We had dinner at a good restaurant in town with them our first night. The house is simple but just right for vacation. We loved the semi open air kitchen and sitting area. The beds were comfortable. The house did have hot water for both the indoor and outdoor showers. We made breakfast both mornings in the kitchen. It was fine. Refrigerator and bottled jug of water were convenient. The kitchen is primitive, which suited us fine. The peaceful natural ambience was worth giving up some amenities.
Beautiful home, great location... had a few issues
Casa Margarita is a lovely home in Cabo Pulmo, one of our favorite places on earth. Thierry and David were very accommodating and patient in making sure our family had privacy, with Thierry letting us use his own personal space to accommodate a family of 6. I'm very grateful for that. The outdoor kitchen is stunning, and was a favorite place for our family to gather every night to play cards.
We've come to Cabo Pulmo for years, and rented other homes, and had some issues this time that were new for us. I've never left a review on a home that was less than glowing, so this is a first. Primarily... we ran out of water. Our family was only able to take hot showers (or any shower, really) for 2 out of 7 days we had rented. (Speaking of showers, although the home advertised having 2, only one was functional during our visit). Thierry told us it was a "whole town problem," but we spoke to other home owners who stated that was untrue, and had nothing wrong. The water would work very sporadically, but it would mist at best coming out of the shower. We were charged $420 extra on the rental for the extra load that a group our size would incur... not only were we very light on the batteries, but we did not even have adequate water. I am a bit incredulous that given this, the $420 was not refunded. Speaking of water, be prepared to buy your own. The listing says water is provided, but we were told that we had to buy our own water in town. It's pretty easy-- 40 pesos at Caballero and you have a new jug-- but it's another detail that would have been great upfront. The kitchen is awesome and fun to use, but could use new pans. The 3 pans were non-stick that had been deeply scratched, warped, and seen better days. There was one baking pan, a pyrex, which mysteriously exploded one day in the oven while we were cooking. Just a few more supplies on that front would make a big difference. Also, don't forget to ask Thierry for a cooler for your dry goods. The mice raided some of our supplies in the cabinets the first night (including avocados!). No problem after we put things in the secured cooler. Finally, the "upper deck" is awesome, but it would be more user friendly if the space was cleared and there were chairs to enjoy.
Hopefully this was a one-off experience for this beautiful (and very clean!) home in one of our favorite places on earth. We will definitely return to Cabo Pulmo, but at least with a larger group, will stay elsewhere.
Lovely secluded place
The rooms were comfortable and quiet and the gardens are beautiful. We loved the semi-outdoor kitchen and bar. Thierry was very friendly and helpful. We wish we had more time to go diving with him, but the snorkeling from the beach was fabulous. Cabo Pulmo is not to be missed!
Perfect spot to relax for a week!
Quiet and Beautiful
A buddy of mine traveled around the southern part of Baja California, this was one of the highlights of the trip. It is within walking distance of the small town, easy access to restaurants and everything else that is offered. Only about .25 mile from town. Great place, clean and comfortable. Thierry is welcoming and very helpful, great choice.
