About Monique Tyler
Good friends lived in Maui in the 1950s and talked about Puamana and the parties they enjoyed at the Plantation Home. In 1968 my family purchased its first property. That is still owned by the family today. My husband and I bought our unit in 1993. His reaction was priceless when he realized I intended to tear it down to the ground and rebuild. Puamana has been enjoyed by 4 generations of our family.
Why Monique Tyler chose Lahaina
A good friend put 5,000 miles on rental cars in the islands looking for that perfect place. One night he called and told us about Puamana. We laughed and said yes, it is the one perfectly kept secret, and if he had asked we would have told him about it. Throughout the years several of our guests have called with questions about the community, and they are now owners.
What makes this Townhome unique
Puamana is very quiet. It is the start of Lahaina and with it's long strip of land along the ocean it is very private. Town is just a short walk up Front Street. Lahaina is very popular through the year, but there are only a few rental units locally and none compare to Puamana.

Looking forward to next time!
lovely location and clean
The facility was great. Staff at Puamana was very helpful. Location is great as its near the entrance gate and grassy lawn. Very quiet and family friendly especially compared to the big resorts. Beach does not have sand this time of year, but we still swam and surfed and SUP'd and kayaked right off the beach and over the rocks.
All's Well That Ends Well
A GREAT location and well-appointed unit for a wonderful family stay!
I misplaced the email with gate code and keybox code. We arrived an hour before the resort desk was scheduled to close, but we found it to be on "Hawaiian Time", i.e. closed early! Thankfully resort security (John) was VERY helpful and understanding. We simultaneously pursued 4 strategies for getting into the unit. One (local caretaker who doesn't work this unit) failed, but security knew we were coming, and by showing the VRBO confirmation he was willing to call a locksmith. Meanwhile, we attempted contacting Michelle and VRBO. All three arrived/returned calls/emails literally at the same moment! We breathed a sigh of relief as the five of us (four adults and a baby) entered our Maui base after 30 minutes of nervous worry about where we were going to sleep, and for me, 30 minutes of embarrassment.
We were familiar with Puamana from when my parents owned a unit 45 years ago. My aunt and uncle who lived in Kula also owned a unit here. The resort has matured beautifully, and Michelle's unit is certainly up-to-date, nicely arranged, and comfortable. Being in a gated community gives a different (in a good way) feel than being in one of the big Kaanapali/etc resorts, much more relaxing which is why you go to Hawaii, right? We used both pools, and found them close-by, uncrowded and delightful, and took the bikes south for the sandy beach. The oceanside pool is an experience not to be missed, and we took in three sunsets from the clubhouse lawn!
This home is clean, well laid out, up-to-date and wonderfully supplied. We availed ourselves of the grill, some of the beach toys (beach umbrellas and beach chair were a must for our outing to Fleming Beach). Goodness the kitchen had EVERYTHING. The fridge even had a few sodas, beers, and so on and we were glad to leave some non-perishables in replacement for the next lucky guests.
The only glitch (other than getting in!) was we had to cycle the power on the wifi to get it going. Initially we could connect to wifi, but it wasn't getting Internet until we cycled the unit (below the TV).
It's been over 25 years since we visited Maui (my Mother was born and raised in Paia). For all the resort growth, death of the sugar cane industry, bigger airport and highways, etc., Puamana is more of the Maui we remember and love!
What a Perfect Hawaiian Getaway. Updated, Clean, Dream Property, & Location, Location, Location..
This Little Grass Shack was nicely updated/modernized, well stocked, and very comfortable, with 2 large bedrooms with their own on-suite's. We couldn't have been happier with the location & value of this vacation rental. It sit's very conveniently located in the low density oasis of Puamana. (This specific rental is in a quite & private location that is very close to the clubhouse, oceanfront pool, & huge Mango Trees.) Puamana is the place to be if you want a serene property to stroll around at a leisurely pace. Truly the perfect place to unwind, all while being located just down the street from the charming, high-quality-restaurant filled, "Downtown Lahaina." (Quick drive or bike-ride away.) Thank you Monique for the opportunity, you'll hear from us again! Aloha :)
We love Puamana, it's tranquil, lovely, relaxing and yet close to town. Monique's condo is perfect. We've stayed there twice and are planning our third visit. It's the perfect location. The patio opens up onto a very large green space and it's ideal for viewing sunsets. The ocean is right there and the ocean pool is amazing. The condo has everything you want, a fully stocked kitchen, easy outdoor dining, very comfortable beds, lots of beach towels, wifi, basically everything you could want. It's a short walk to town for anything you want, but far enough away that you feel as if in you're in a different world. Highly recommended.
Relaxing Stay at Puamana
My parents and I had a relaxing stay at Puamana. The ocean pool was amazing, we were able to see turtles from it! The neighborhood is very quiet and has a picturesque beach and a beautiful sunset. The house has nice, new furnishings with ample dining and cooking space. It's close to central Lahaina which has lots of attractions and a grocery store. The property is suitable for kids and adults, with lots of attractions nearby. Our family had a fun time snorkeling and surfing nearby!
