The use of a tandem kayak is INCLUDED in your lodging rate! A pontoon boat may be available to rent as an option.
With more than 1,750 SQ. feet (includes a 350 SQ. foot cabin with a full bath and a queen-size bedroom) of living space, the Wagon Creek Lodge divides itself between two floors. The open floor plan is perfect for entertaining. The design features exterior stone-façade, a large walk out wood deck with Adirondack chairs and a grill, a souring ceiling, open loft, floor-to-ceiling glass windows for breathtaking lakefront views, interior pine siding, and colored concrete floors. The eat-in-kitchen area has black wood cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, and a large farmhouse table with bench seating. The living area has plenty of comfortable seating, a Buck Stove wood-burner, a TV, and a sofa that converts into a queen-size bed. The large bedroom offers a queen-size bed and a large walk-in closet. The full bath is equipped with a seated shower and a washer/dryer.
Climb the open pine staircase to the expansive loft above and delight in the breathtaking views of legendary Lake of Egypt. Upstairs features a second full bath with a seated shower, a log framed futon that converts into a queen-size bed, a log framed chair convertible to a twin-size bed, closets for storage, a bar-height table and chairs for board games, and work desk space.
-The covered boathouse has electricity and lighting, a single slip (24' L x 15' W) w/lift, and a swim ladder. Outer edge contains boat bumpers and anchors. A sundeck is attached.
- Approximately 1-mile travel on gravel/stone road on the last leg to/from the premises.
- Gentle slope approximately 165' from the roadside to the shoreline. Steps from the road to home: 25. The land contains natural sandstone and rocks that may be slippery when wet. Use caution.
- Roadside parking fits approximately 4-5 medium vehicles and boat/jet ski trailers.
- The property does not have dog kennels or a fenced in yard. Please notify me in advance if you are bringing a dog(s) or other small domesticated pet(s). I encourage you to bring Fido!
About Lake of Egypt:
The Lake of Egypt is a 2300 acre lake with 93 miles of shoreline that borders the Shawnee National Forest. The average depth of the lake is 18 feet (5.5 m) with a maximum depth of 52 feet (15.8 m). The lake is open to the public. Racing type boats, boats with loud, open or uninhibited exhaust systems, boats with toilet, kitchen or lodging facilities or boats with sidewalls are not allowed. Pontoon boats must not exceed 28 feet and hull boats may not exceed 20 feet. Waterskiing, tubing, and jet skis are permitted in the designated areas. Fishing includes Bluegill, Largemouth Bass, Channel Catfish, Striped Bass, and Crappie.
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) set the state fishing regulations. While fishing in the Shawnee National Forest all anglers are required to follow State Fishing Guidelines and to obtain a state fishing license if applicable.
There are 4 marinas on the lake with some offering food, packaged beer/liquor/wine, live entertainment, boat/jet ski rentals, fishing tournaments, and a variety of activities to keep the entire family entertained including water skiing, wake boarding, tubing, sport fishing, pleasure boating, horseback riding, rock climbing, biking, kayaking, etc.
The closest marina by road is the Resort at Egyptian Hills (CLOSED EST OCT-MAR). The closest launch by water is Hickory Ridge (Buck Ridge Campground, Shawnee National Forest). For hours of operation and other information, please contact them directly. A launch fee may apply.
