About Sarah van der Helm
We grew up in Oklahoma, and met each other while attending OSU in 1992. Both of us have always loved going to Colorado on vacation. In 2008 we moved to the Denver area. Spending time outdoors is something we love. Dick enjoys mountain biking and we both enjoy the beautiful hiking trails. In the winter we stay busy with all of the fun activities. We love watching wildlife.
Sarah van der Helm purchased this Cabin in 2016
Why Sarah van der Helm chose Valley of the Blue
We fell in love with the charm of the house. The house has a grand, welcoming exterior. The front yard gets enough sun so I can plant a large flower garden. Having an outdoor hot tub on the private back deck is something we really enjoy. It is so relaxing to soak in the water while outside looking at the trees or at night gazing at the stars.
What makes this Cabin unique
The house backs up to a small seasonal creek where animals wander up for a drink. We love seeing all of the wildlife around this home.

Our stay was wonderful. We had ample room for 5 adults. The home was warm and cozy on the snowy days and we all enjoyed just sitting and enjoying the view out of the front windows. Definitely recommend this home to anyone. Thanks!! Graves family 12-18
Wonderful Thanksgiving in the Mountains
We absolutely loved our stay over Thanksgiving here. The kitchen was well equipped, and we enjoyed cooking lots of meals. The large kitchen table was perfect for our group of 6 to eat at and play games at. The stocked firewood was great for building fires, and we enjoyed watching the snowfall from the hot tub. We got a lot of snow during our stay, but the driveway was well plowed and people came to help shovel the patios. We really loved spending the long weekend snowshoeing and exploring with our dog and would absolutely come back. Thanks Sarah, for sharing your beautiful property with us!
This house exceeded our expectations. It was cozy, the fireplace was great, linens and all were clean. Kitchen had more than enough supply for us to cook a couple meals, firewood and kindle was plentiful. It snowed a bit while we were there, but Sarah was nice enough to reach-out and check on us, to see if we needed to stay later to await a snow plow. Really lovely home, would definitely stay here again!
The house was great, with lots of space and comfortable. It was convenient to points of interest.
The house was very comfortable for us, with lots of extras. We were close to several points of interest. We saw a curious fox a few times plus a moose traveled through. We realized the house was pet-friendly, because we took our dog, but there was some pet hair from previous visitors (it was different color than our dog’s), though it didn’t detract from our great experience. Before we stayed there, the host always responded to an email if I had questions, which made her a joy to work with! We would recommend this house to anyone.
We were very pleased with the property.
It was clean, well stocked, and only 6.5 miles from town. Great place to stay!
Summer in Paradise
A wonderful cabin about 6 miles outside of Breck in a wooded area with other homes nearby. Kitchen well-equipped, furnishings pleasant, spotlessly clean, well-maintained hot tub, comfortable beds, garage for car, washer and dryer and deck with swing, picnic table and chairs. We stayed for two weeks, enjoyed the cool mountain air, and saw moose, red fox, deer and chipmunks. At the base of Hoosier Pass, it's easy to go toward Fairplay, or to head to Breck and Summit County.
