Charlie's Cottage in Yarramalong Valley

Charlie’s cottage is in a lovely peaceful setting. It is rustic and historical but has enough modern amenities for a comfortable stay and beds are warm and cosy.

Our few days there were on a bitterly cold weekend in August with high winds. Power went out for a few hours but Julie, our hostess, brought us candles, in case! We didn’t need them in the end but she also gave us some lovely fresh eggs and some anti histamines for my friend who was struggling with the wind. Thank you Julie.

Our dogs really enjoyed their country escape too, lots of delightful new smells.

If heading for the cottage keep a keen eye as the sign is easily missed.

To be honest it was an excellent little cottage and great for a get away but having a little vertigo I felt the cottage wasn’t completely stable. Near the bbq is a step I almost fell over on at night. And the entertainment could be updated (ie Austar/Netflix) as the DVD would cut out part way through. But I did love the old house aromas that brought back childhood memories from our grandparents houses. Our dog certainly enjoyed his free reign around the property and loved it so much that he did not want to get back in the car when it was time to leave. Wife has an issue with her leg so it’s a pity we couldn’t park closer to the house. I did however love the antique oven and cupboards etc. Also enjoyed the location and tranquility of the place.

Charlie’s Cottage is a piece of history set in peaceful surrounds. We enjoy our yearly stays here away from the hustle and bustle of suburban life.

We spent 3 nights at Charlie's Cottage and it was the perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the 21st century and reconnect with the simpler, quieter joys of bygone days. We loved the rustic qualities of the cottage and sitting on the veranda, enjoying the views and listening to the farmland sounds, was one of our favourite past times. Yarramalong Valley is an easy 1 1/2 to 2-hour drive from Sydney (depending on your suburb) and in between sitting on the veranda, there was plenty to do, with bushwalks (connecting with The Great North Track) and the TreeTops rope climbing adventure only a short drive away near Wyong.
