About Joanne Woodward Tew

Greetings, I fell in love with the Eastport area, and have thus bought and renovated this wonderful victorian house on third Street. I hail originally from Maine but now have happily settled here near the water, sailing and for me a great place to paint and do my other art work. The house and garden are a true reflection of my interest in art, gardening, and old homes and architecture. Many of the houses older features were preserved or replicated during the renovation of the house. I am truely enjoying being able to share all of this by renting the house and apartment to others that are here to visit in the area.

What makes this house unique

Annapolis and Eastport have many unique benefits for you to enjoyment. Along with the other activities that I have mentioned, Annapolis is a beautiful Historic Harbor town. It is the Capital of Maryland and offers many historic tours. Annapolis also offers activities related to the US Naval Academy, numerous restaurants and bars, boat tours, kayaking, sailing, local farmers markets, many sailing events and competitions, special event days such as the tug-o-war between Annapolis and Eastport and many others.

We are located 30 minutes from BWI airport, and 25 miles from both Washington DC and Baltimore. Many couples choose this area for weddings and use VRBO homes as accommodations for family and friends .

Guestbook comments from the owner

We are so happy to have found your wonderful place on the internet. This is our second August here in "Naptown" but staying in the wonderful digs made this so much more enjoyable. The two grandsons loved coming over to run around in your beautiful backyard. Sadly tomorrow starts the migration back down to Ft.Myers, FL. Hopefully our paths will cross again

VRBO Bear stayed here

What could be better than a visit to historical Annapolis MD? - the lovely accommodations the VRBO Bear found in this charming apartment in Eastport! This home has been completely renovated and was a cozy retreat at the end of the day. The purpose of our visit was to attend the First Class Parents' Weekend at the US Naval Academy. This bear's friends have a son at the Academy, and the apartment was in a perfect location for the weekend's festivities. There are restaurants and quaint stores all around this location, with a Ruth's Chris Steak house right down the street! We walked to the Academy on the first morning, crossing the bridge over Spa Creek and enjoying the sights of the marina - boats, homes and businesses along the way. In the evening, we enjoyed the ride on the water taxi that dropped us off just a few blocks from the apartment. The apartment was a delight, with every comfort a bear could desire. The bed with its luxurious linens was so comfortable, I could have hibernated all weekend! The kitchen was stocked with any item I might have needed, and the living room was inviting with a comfortable sofa and TV. And if you are a bear who needs to stay "connected," there is even wireless internet available. Our hostess, Joanne, is an artist, and there are many pieces of her work displayed throughout the apartment, including charming painted furniture and beautiful artwork on the walls. She even has a small gallery of her work in her home, which is attached to the apartment. You can tell that every detail was lovingly appointed with a generous spirit. If you are planning a visit to Annapolis, MD, for Boat Week, USNA Commissioning week, or Parents Weekend, or just for the joy of exploring this historical, quaint city, be sure to inquire about this perfect apartment in the heart of Eastport! We enjoyed our stay at this home very much. Everything we needed was available. It was a short drive or walk to Annapolis. Many good restaurants were in walking distance. Highly recommend this property.

Plebe parent weekend

  • 5 of 5

We loved the house. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. It was a perfect location. Easy walk to the Naval Academy or catch a water taxi. There are plenty of nice places to eat right in the neighborhood. The beds were very comfortable. For our family we just loved to hang out and hear our Midshipman share his plebe summer experience. We will be back again.

Perfect Location in Annapolis - Really Interesting and Peaceful Home

  • 5 of 5

This is one of the most interesting home we've ever rented. The owner Joanne is a fantastic artist and the home is filled with her works and other works of art in all mediums,. The furnishings in the home show a real appreciation for antiques and the result is a home that is comfortable and intriguing. There is always something new to discover and the owners attention to detail is appreciated. The house is clean and the kitchen immaculate with a really interesting architecture. The bedrooms are well done, comfortable and peaceful.

Best of all is the location, walking distance to everything in Annapolis , and great restaurants in Eastport. We came to the house by boat and docked at Annapolis City Marina just two short blocks away.

Overall, if you want an interesting, comfortable home in Annapolis, we highly recommend this one!

The quintessential Annapolis experience

  • 5 of 5

This is the perfect period home (with a collection of beautifully arrayed art and antiques) in a wonderful location in a truly fun and interesting city. It's in easy walking distance to everything, but don't miss the charms of "The Republic of Eastport" itself. We've stayed here three times so far, and plan to stay again soon!

Special Home for Commissioning and other events!

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful home in the wonderful location of Eastport near the water and restaurants. We stayed here for USNA commissioning week and it was memorable because of the event but also the home we stayed out. Its a home full of art by the owner and her collection of art objects. The kitchen is wonderful and the rooms were comfortable. It's just beautiful. She also has a picnic area outside with pretty gardens. Here bedding and sheets were top of the line. We loved our visit and we will always remember this special home in Eastport.
