Bedrooms 3, Bathrooms 2, Sleeps 6
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your charming cabin... would definitely like to return again in the future.
Nice place. Great location. 2/3 beds were VERY soft (old?) and uncomfortable.
Otherwise nice place.
A very nice stay
Thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend at this house, and and look forward to doing it again. It is in a great location for down town Chimney Rock. I initially missed the street sign for Southside Drive and its little bridge, my phone's GPS found it, so the next time I will listen to the GPS.
Mornings start with just the sound of the Chimney Rock River
The sound of the river, the smell of the moss, and the feel of the damp air in the morning is so welcoming and comforting in Chimney Rock NC. This cottage is as inviting as the outdoors! With 6 adults, a 2 year old, and an infant there was plenty of sleeping, eating, and living space. The beds and bedding offer plenty of comfort with lots of pillows. We had a generous amount of towels in both bathrooms and the bathtub is a generous size and was used by adults and the children. The shower on the main floor has a high shower head and the water pressure is excellent at all sources. We cooked almost everyday for our 4 day stay and the kitchen is well stocked including a large pot for our chili and casserole dishes for lasagna and baked mac n’ cheese. The grill and fire pit were utilised every day too. One of our favorite features were the decorative lighting fixtures in every room and the remote temperature controls for the entire house. The decor offers a cozy feel with all its attention to detail. Another sweet feature is the stream that runs under the drive and what once was an old stone swimming pool in the front yard. The greatest feature is the 5 minute walk to the town of Chimney Rock. Crossing the bridge everyday over the rocky river with its rushing waters from the mountains is fascinating! The fact that you can walk, swim, or just sit on the rocks with your feet in the icy cold waters is a blessing!
It is true that cell phone service is spotty but we were able to stream Cub games via our lap top and use a Google Home device for tunes with no issues.
The management group was quick to respond to a simple request and we felt welcomed.
Our biggest thrill was a visit from a Black Bear at night for the garbage and once during daylight on the hill behind the house...never felt afraid!
Would definitely stay again!
Thank you Roger for this kind review. We are so pleased to know that your group enjoyed their visit and the beautiful natural surroundings, bear included. Please visit again, you are more than welcome.
Like a setting in an old movie
On my way to Chimney Rock, I bought an old garden table for four. Unloading it out of the back of the car, we set it up in the yard and played Spades until only the fireflies provided light. Under the shade trees, the rugged mountain as a back drop, our family gathered for a short break from normal activity. We spent most of our time cooking, laughing, playing Chicken Foot with Dominoes at the kitchen table. I'm sure the area has many lovely sights, but none was better than our Cabin, the lush yard, and trickling stream.
Thank you for this beautiful review. I am so happy that you enjoyed your family time at ARE. Please come and visit again anytime.
Chimney Rock Vacation
The Vintage house provided a pleasant atmosphere for our family’s holiday gathering. Charming with and high quality renovations. Clean and well equipped. The house was in walking distance to the many of Chimney Rock’s attractions.
Suggestions; Provide accommodations for winter coats to be hung down stairs as well as places for towels to be hung in bath rooms.
It would have been nice to have access for TV viewing. Include information about the lack of TV accessibility in your welcome package.
Thank you for your many special details.
Thank you so much for your kind words and suggestions. The instructions for the new Google Chrome Cast have been included in the Welcome Letter as suggested. The Chrome Cast was purchased after you received your letter and I apologize for the inconvenience.
