You’ll love our place because it's Nestled in the heart of the Redland farming community. The home, sits on a private 12 acre avocado grove, with electric gate access. The home was recently renovated to include new beds, mattress & sheets. Plenty of space for your boat, camper and covered parking. High level security system, quiet neighborhood and more!

Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets).

We are Military friendly and offer a 20% discount to those currently active in the Military.

Our place is 15 minutes away from Florida Everglades entrance, 10 minutes from restaurants and dining. 30 minutes to Key Largo. Family-friendly activities in downtown Homestead, as well as, local neighborhood events. 1 hr to Miami International Airport. 8 minutes from the famous Schnebly's Redland Winery & Dade County's finest Fruit & Spice Park. 10 minutes from the Monkey Jungle, Coral Castle to mention a few.

The house itself, built mostly by Firefighters in 1972 (a brotherhood of master electricians, roofers and other craftsmen). Owner and District Fire Chief for the City of Miami, T.S. Houston, which overseen the construction of the home at the time. After Hurricane Andrew, the house was rebuilt and enhanced by Bob Houston, his son, which continues to keep the property in the family name. The original home was aprox. 5,400sg ft., then divided and made into a duplex. Six bedrooms, five bath. The owners Bob & Denise Houston live adjacent to the guest house. The guest house (aprox 2,300sq ft), formally the main house, is what's available for rent. A third bedroom and bath is also available, but requires additional fee and advance notice.

About Bob Houston

I have been in the solar powered security industry for over 40 years. We live adjacent to the guest house, which we have always maintained for the enjoyment of our own family and friends. Although we have never formally rented the house out in the past, we are certain that you will enjoy and appreciate the comforts of this new listing. Hopefully, you'll find our place nice enough to make this your second home annually!

Great Stay

We really enjoyed our stay with the Houstens. If you are looking for a private place to stay, away from the congestion of the cities of South Florida but, still be able to visit them, this is the place. Easy access to explore the everglades and quick access to the Florida Keys. Only a few hours to the Gulf coast. A real home away from home.

The house is spacious and beautifully decorated. All the comforts of home. The property is gorgeous with an area to walk and enjoy the natural beauty of Florida. Away from the city noise and lights in a rural faming area which is perfect for stargazing! Amenities are close (15 min). Good local restaurants. Absolutely wonderful!
