About the property

2 Bedroom, 1 Bath Montford Bungalow

Welcome home to this 1920's Bungalow located in the heart of Asheville’s Historic Montford Neighborhood. This 2-bedroom and 1-Bath home has been recently updated and is fully equipped with modern appliances, plush linens, a luxurious bed and a high-end queen-size futon to ensure you will feel at home during your stay.

The kitchen includes a gas range, refrigerator, with butcher-board counter tops and is equipped with all the basics to meet your needs. If you enjoy grilling, there is a full-size gas grill and patio table with umbrella located on the flagstone patio in the backyard. The bedroom is located beyond a beautiful barn door and features a queen-size bed with memory foam mattress, dresser (with ample hanging space in the backroom). The living room is equipped with an oversized leather coach, a sitting chair, a small library comprised of books written by local authors and books about the Asheville area, and has a large screen, Smart/HDTV, high-speed internet and is equipped with internet streaming capability (premium cable coming soon!)

On the front of the house you will find a charming front porch with cushioned chairs and a table for two set up from the street by a quaint front yard with a burgeoning crate myrtle. Enjoy your favorite beverage, reading a book, or just relaxing as you people watch. An efficiency washer and dryer is available in the home for your convenience.

Once you arrive, there is very little need for a vehicle. Two of Asheville's most popular restaurants, Chiesa, Nine Mile, Todd's and the local mini-mart are located within a few blocks. Harris Teeter and Trader Joe’s grocery stores are a fifteen to twenty minute walk to the East of the house. Bustling downtown Asheville is a short ten-minute walk to the South of the house where you will find over 65 eclectic and unique restaurants, independent shops, theaters, coffee and tea shops, and lastly, but not least, all of the independent micro breweries. Most of the breweries offer tours of their facilities, which has made Asheville known as “Beer City USA”. Come see why Asheville has often been referred to as “The Paris of The South”.

If you enjoy architecture Asheville has many historic homes, buildings and churches with some very unique features like the Grove Arcade, St. Lawrence Basilica, S&W Building, and Woolworth building with the original soda fountain counter still serving sandwiches and milk shakes.

There are many day trips too. The Blue Ridge Parkway is just a ten-minute drive away. Chimney Rock and Lake Lure, where the movies Dirty Dancing and Last of the Mohicans were filmed, are a few “must sees”. Black Mountain, Hendersonville, Hot Springs, Brevard, and Waynesville are some other unique mountain towns.

If you are in to hiking, biking or simply going on a leisure stroll, there are many trails, state parks, waterfalls, and rivers for tubing, kayaking, and white water rafting.

The Biltmore Estate is only a ten minute drive from the house. It is the largest privately owned estate in North America and has it’s own winery. Enjoy the tours, restaurants, shopping, and of course, the French Chateau style home built by George W. Vanderbilt.

Whatever your reason to visit Asheville, you will never be short on anything to do, even if it’s absolutely nothing. Our home provides a relaxing, comfortable, and convenient place to start. Welcome home!

Why Evlyn Jackson chose Historic Montford

I fell in love with this bungalow the minute I saw it. It is recently renovated, stylish and simply adorable. The street is a quiet side street with very little traffic and incredible community welcoming of locals and visitors alike. It is a happy home one block off Montford Ave. 5-10 minute walk to downtown but you feel tucked away in this quaint neighborhood.
