About Shirley Papp
I am a Real estate broker for most of my life since the age of 21. I love to make people happy in the surroundings. I have bought and sold many houses and properties throughout the years but this one is my favorite.
Shirley Papp purchased this Apartment in 2005
Why Shirley Papp chose Central Midtown
I purchased this property originally as a rental. But it turned out that it was just too pretty to be an every day rental property so I decided to furnish it in the Accommodations that it was accustomed to back in the original heyday. It is a Historical property as a it was originally built for the Cotton Barons who travelled along the Mississippi.
What makes this Apartment unique
I fell in love with the Nostalgic feeling this property exudes. You feel so calm when here. It takes one back to the French Quarter with its iron Trellises and front Balconys.

Nice older property but their were some issues.
The property is older and quaint and we were aware and fine with that, liked our little balcony and swing, the property was clean and served the purpose but there were some issues.
First, this is on the edge of residential property but your neighbors are bars and restaurants. The first night the staff from the bar behind us was out and talking for about 45 minutes around 1 or 2 in the morning and we were up for an hour. The next two nights, the garbage truck came and picked up dumpsters between 0400 and 0445 with several loud bangs as they picked up and put down the large dumpsters, so awake again.
We also did not realize that the bedroom is upstairs and there is no bathroom up there. We knew we would be up at least once to the bathroom and chose to sleep downstairs on the twin bed and sofa sleeper so we would not have to go up and down the stairs to the bathroom.
One reason we like the VRBO concept is to have a kitchen. We were there 3 nights and planned on cooking dinner in once and we like to cook some breakfast in the a.m. Our second day we were preparing for breakfast and had no gas to the stove. Attempted to contact the owner at about 0815 and heard back a couple of hours later. It was that afternoon that someone came over and said the gas was off for some reason. Owner called later that day and said the gas company would be over to turn on the gas. Apparently the gas company came after 2200 and we were unaware. We left the next day, so we really did not have a functioning kitchen for the 3 meals we prepared to cook.
There is parking in a small lot, but not enough if the building is full. There is parking on the street.
So with this is mind, I would not choose to stay there again. If the bath was on the same level as the bedroom, and I knew I would not be woke up every night with noise, I would stay there again. I understand things happen regarding the gas, however, it was not able to be resolved during the time of our stay.
Such a cute historical place!!!
It was far enough from downtown to avoid all the madness but close enough for just a $9 cab ride!!!
We were able to walk to places to eat and a Kroger!!!
Had a great neighbor--Ronnie and enjoyed our nightly visits!!!
Would definitely stay there again----Shirley was amazing!!!
Quaint bachelor suites with lots of character, good for 2 people. Walkable neighbourhood with lots of great restaurants, pubs and live music within a few blocks, as well as Overton park. $7 Uber ride to Beale St.
Our bed was too soft (sagged in middle), otherwise great.
Located in the Heart of Midtown Memphis. Plenty of Restaurants and amenities within walking distance of the Belvedere Suites. Overton square is just 1 mile east of the Suites and Beale st. and Downtown is about 2 miles west of the Suites. Overton Park is a great place to walk, take the dog or go and do 9 holes of Golf. Brooks art Museum is a short walk as well, and includes the Memphis Shell where free concerts are held
during spring and summer months. Most of them are free.
