This newly renovated 2-bedroom log cabin has exclusive access to a private beach club and dock and is minutes to downtown Boothbay Harbor, by car or by foot. Find peace in this secluded, historic location.
Vintage meets sophistication in the 2-bedroom, 1-bath cabin with exposed log walls in the coastal community of Sprucewold. Originally developed as a rustic summer retreat in the 1920s, 75 log cabins centered around the Sprucewold Lodge just up the hill, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. You'll love Mavooshen’s quiet location on a dead-end road, and the easy 1.2 mile walk to downtown Boothbay Harbor. You’ll share private access to the Sprucewold Beach Club and Crooked Pine Float.
Indulge in Maine's famous lobsters at Boothbay Lobster Wharf. The Boathouse Bistro serves a delicious seafood risotto and a beloved blueberry pomegranate sangria a mile from the cabin; day boats off the main pier offer harbor tours and whale watching; and seaside gifts and local crafts abound in local shops.
INSIDE THE HOUSE
Pine needles and moss pave the path to the cozy cabin’s front door. Step into the living room, defined by vaulted ceilings, traditional log walls, and a cool coastal ambiance. A sofa and chairs seat five before a traditional fieldstone fireplace. There's a vintage-minimalist feel in the galley-style kitchen but all the equipment you need to whip up vacation-worthy meals, including a gas grill on the deck. A dining area sits before a picture window and seats up to six on bench seats.
Look out at the evergreen forest from the rustic master bedroom with charming log walls, furnished with a luxurious queen-size bed. The second bedroom has two twin beds and pretty natural light. All beds have electric blankets for those nights when the coastal breezes get nippy. A single bath features a walk-in shower, and brand new sink and vanity with plenty of shelving.
Two porches offer plenty of seating, a dining area, and a relaxing place to let Maine unwind you.
Note: October weather can be chilly, and there is no heat at this house. However, the fireplace works and beds have electric blankets.
From boating to hiking to galleries and fine dining, a visit to Boothbay Harbor promises an authentic Downeast experience you'll treasure for years to come. From the cabin, walk to the private Sprucewold Beach Club for swimming, fishing, collecting seashells with the kids, chasing sandpipers and hermit crabs, and watching the tide ebb and flow.
Take a 4.5-mile car ride to peruse the stunning Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens and its many seasonal celebrations. Gleason Fine Art Gallery, Mung Bean, Dirty Bird Pottery, and Villard Studio are great for the artsy soul. Boothbay Railway Village, Bigelow Labs, and the Maine State Aquarium offer a fun afternoon for the whole family.
Find more fantastic seafood within minutes of home at Ports of Italy and The Lobster Dock. After dinner, treat yourself to an ice cream cone, and enjoy live music at McSeagull’s or a round of cocktails on the harborside deck at Coastal Prime.
Fitness enthusiasts can purchase a day pass at the local YMCA; rent bikes, kayaks and paddleboards; hike the trails of the Boothbay Land Trust; sail and play tennis. The 18-hole golf course at Boothbay Harbor Country Club has public tee times.
