Ca. 1914 Craftsman Bungalow located 2 blocks from the seawall offers a peaceful setting surrounded by lush tropical gardens. Lovingly restored in 2006, ammenities include a well equipped gourmet kitchen, updated period style baths, and comfortable eclectic furnishings. Enjoy the views from the breakfast nook overlooking the private rear gardens.
The bedrooms (upstairs) include a master suite with queen memory foam mattress; 2nd bedroom with queen memory foam mattress; and t v room , with full size day bed, and 37' t v w/ blue ray player and satellite service.
The open floorplan downstairs allows for lots of natural light. The large front porch provides a relaxing retreat for enjoying the ocean breezes and sounds of the surf. The bedrooms and full bath upstairs provide a cozy environment for a good nights rest. A full size stackable washer/ dryer in the bath closet, satellite tv, and wireless internet services are also provided for your convenience.
The neighborhood is a quiet collection of bungalows just off the beaten path of the more 'tourisity' parts of the Island, but still in the middle of activity. Island favorites 'Queen's Bar-b-que', 'The Spot ' Restaurant and bar, 'The Gumbo Diner', and 'Brick House Tavern' are all within 3 blocks along Seawall Boulevard. Island landmark 'Gaido's' Restaurant is 5 blocks down the Blvd
The Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier built over the gulf is 9 blocks east. The Downtown Strand historic District and cruise ship terminal are within a 5 minuite drive, while Moody gardens and Schlitterbahn water park are an approx. 15 minuite drive west.
The best feature of this home, however, is it's peaceful and calming effect it has on all who visit. Whether for a quiet get away for a small group, or for a family vacation get away, the Beach Bungalow provides the perfect setting.
Galveston has an impressive fourth of July celebration (fireworks display are set off at the 37th Street jetty 3 blocks away). Thanksgiving and Christmas are another ideal time to be on the island. The summer crowds have thinned out, the weather is mild (bordering on awesome), and the atmosphere is laid back.
If it is raucious fun and excitement you're looking for, then come down for Mardi Gras (several Mardi Gras parades march down this section of Seawall Blvd. See mardigrasgalveston for details) , Spring break/ Memorial Day, or The Lone Star Bike Rally (usually the first week of November).

Classic 1914 Craftsman bungalow located on a quiet corner lot near the Kempner Park neighborhood of old mid town Galveston, we are 2 blocks from Galveston's seawall & beaches. Located just outside of the more touristy parts of the city, you are within walking distance to locally favorite restaurants 'The Spot', 'Queen's Bar-b-q', 'Brickhouse Tavern' 'The Gumbo Diner', and 'Joe's Crab Shack'. Island landmark 'Gaido's Seafood' (39th Street and Seawall),and 'Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier' (25th and seawall) are a few blocks farther. The Historic Downtown Strand shopping district/ cruise ship terminal, Moody Gardens, and Schlitterbahn Water Park are within a 5 to 15 minuite drive.
Other Activities: Hit the seawall (2 blocks from your door) for sandy beaches, trinket and t shirt shops, or an informal meal/ cocktails with a view. The Strand Historic District (downtown) offers an array of unique shops, art galleries, and antiquing, not to mention the numerous dining opportunities. The bustling cruise ship terminal is located on the harbor side of downtown.
