Overview

About the property

Sturdy Beach Front House sleeps 6, Super Easy to Find!

Located at the famous San Miguel Point, this American-built 2 bedroom house has spectacular views and is a one-minute walk away from one of the best breaks in Baja. In the morning, sip your coffee in the fully outfitted kitchen while you watch the guys in the line-up. Catch a couple of waves or just enjoy watching the surfers, then head into town to shop and have the world's best fish tacos. In the evening, enjoy a home-cooked dinner from the dining room while the sun sets over the Pacific and Todos Santos or, if cooking's not your thing, dine at one of the spectacular restaurants along the coast (or just grab some tacos down at El Sauzal).

The house was built by the owner, an American contractor and exceeds American construction standards. It includes a water tank system with trucked-in fresh water, a washer and dryer, fiber optic internet to stream all your content, and a Chromecast. There are queen beds in both bedrooms, plus a full sofa bed in the living room. The one-car garage is available for your use, and there is a large driveway for two more cars. The house is located in a gate guarded community at the end of a cul de sac so it is peaceful and secure. Our caretaker lives five houses away to respond to any issues. The house is an easy drive from the U.S.; just cross the border, get on the toll road, and bypass Tijuana. There's a 7-11 style convenience store and a restaurant in the village that are two minutes away on foot. If you don't mind driving, there are two great taco stands and a couple of panaderias (bakeries) just south of the house at El Sauzal. Ensenada with all its fun is just a short drive away. And if you want excellent dining options, there are several between our house and Ensenada such as El Moro Hotel Restaurant and Sano's. For all the surfers out there, San Miguel is one of the most consistent rights this surfer has ever seen, and I lived in Hawaii for 10 years.

You won't find a better value anywhere in Ensenada.

About Doug Wampler

American Contractor, vacation home lover, Have lived here for many years and now I want to share this spot with responsible travelers.

Doug Wampler purchased this house in 2002

Why Doug Wampler chose Ensenada Municipality

I built this house with my own two hands because I wanted a nice place in Mexico and everything available for sale wasn't up to my standards as a contractor. I built it well, made it right, and hope you enjoy it as much as my family and I do.

What makes this house unique

Walk to the Beach! Enjoying time on an amazing private surfing beach with bathrooms and fire-pits. Great place for family and friends to explore the wine country, zip lines, eco tours, and Ensenada from a classy, secure and comfortable home.

Our Family trip to Ensenada August 2017 to Deliver our son to Bible college

  • 3 of 5

Our first impression of the house was pleasant. But after a day at the house we weren't so impressed. The house looked like it hadn't been really cleaned in a while. There were several spider webs through out the house. Then showering was not very good because we couldn't get consistent hot or even warm water. The home had an A/C unit, but the breaker that feeds it was locked out. Thankfully it wasn't really hot, and we were able to open the windows to get a good cool breeze blowing through the house. There also wasn't any television service in the home. The location of the home, wasn't in the nicest neighborhood, but it was in a great location for where we needed to be. It was only about ten minutes from my sons bible college and it was only about twenty minutes from the center of Ensenada. It did provide a home for us to stay in for five days at a reasonable price, about what it would have cost us for a stay at a hotel, but without the feel, comfort and space of a home. We spent most of our days out and about touring the area and shopping, so we really only spent our evenings and slept in the house. So the cons didn't really effect our stay, we were also able to hook up our laptop to the tv and watch our list of movies. If they did a better job of cleaning the home prior to a new renter and fixed the problem with the lack of hot water, I would recommend the home to anyone who really just needs a place to sleep while visiting Ensenada. Sal the person who handled the whole process of the rental for us, was very pleasant and easy to deal with. Thank you, Steve & family

Excellent Time in Mexico

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at Doug's house. It's clean, safe and has all the amenities for a wonderful visit to Baja California. It's close to a lot of great restaurants and other activities. The on-site manager, Sal and his wife, are absolutely terrific and worked hard to make sure our stay was what we had hoped.

Just Right!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Home 87 was short and sweet. Enjoyed every minute. No surfers here but our kids enjoyed the 2 minute walk to the ocean. We walked in the water while our kids looked for sea shells. Very relaxing weekend. Will Return. Thank you!!
