Why Michael chose Downtown

LA's fashion district is a major manufacturing hub that acts as a home base for dozens of factories that cut and sew for the entire industry. The area provides wholesale and part-time retail markets, the largest flower district in the country, the Merchandise Mart, and of course the world famous Santee Alley—a three-block outdoor market made up of garage-like retail spaces. Not to mention close to 7th street knows as restaurant row were you'll find diverse choices of food.

Comfortable, spacious with everything you need

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in this fantastic apartment for a month, its in a great building with friendly security in an interesting neighbourhood. The apartment was clean, spacious and has an amazing view out of huge windows, I enjoyed watching the sun rises and city lights. I had everything I needed, fast internet, washer and dryer, dishwasher, huge bathtub, comfortable bed and furniture, television and well stocked supplies of products for washing and garbage etc. There are good restaurants and cafes close by and plenty options to get anywhere in LA via public transport. Host was always responsive to communicate with and generous with early check in after my flight arrived at 6am. I would highly recommend and hope to visit again.

Nice apartment overall, a few flaws

  • 3 of 5

Basically, this is a comfortable, cute one bedroom apartment. There was the typical items in the kitchen, including plates/cups, coffee maker, there was ample hot water when we showered, and all the appliances were clean. The bed was very comfortable with a large closet. Good view at night, nice city lights. Lots of city sounds from the street below, but shutting the windows blocked out the noise easily.

Neighborhood was not the greatest, with quite a few homeless people, but the building itself was very secure with a guard in the front and multiple levels of codes needed to access the actual room. Parking was difficult to come by and there is no dedicated parking for the apartment complex. The parking lot was behind the complex and required payment every 12 hours, plus a couple homeless tents around.

We did have a problem with the key code access to the front door, and were locked out. But Mike was very responsive and helped us to gain access quickly.

The only negative we had with the apartment itself was the floors - walking around barefoot for any amount of time rendered black, dirty feet. This could be easily remedied with hiring a better housecleaning service.

Overall, nice apartment, good access to local LA activities, and we would consider staying there again.

Excellent location

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed staying at this property. It was very conveniently located to the restaurants on 7th St., Whole foods, Little Tokyo, as well as the convention center (about a 25 minute walk). The area around the apartment became a bit empty in the evenings due to it being located in the fabric district. But, we did not have any problems walking around the area in the evening. The views from the apartment of the distant mountains were great.

The apartment had everything you could want in the kitchen except a toaster and the washer and dryer was very convenient.

Great DTLA location, centrally located. Just as pictures depict.

Very nice, spacious 1 BDR apartment with security features, i.e. nightly security guard, access codes for entry and elevator. An extra feature was the W/D which you will never get in a hotel room. The kitchen could use a set of mixing bowls for basic meal preparation. Compared to the price of a hotel room, you won't be disappointed.

Nice Apartment, Neighborhood Information

  • 3 of 5

The apartment is as described and pictured. The apartment and building are safe, secure, and clean. The management company and Michael were very good about communicating and check in was very easy. This review is more about the surrounding neighborhood. I was traveling for work with my mother and based on reviews I thought this neighborhood would be fine. Full disclosure, I am not familiar with downtown LA. The neighborhood does have breakfast and coffee shops within walking distance from the apartment. When the shops and markets are open the neighborhood is full of people and feels lived in. The neighborhood is still gritty but populated. At night however, all the shops close and the area is very deserted. I did not feel safe walking around at night with my mother. We travel frequently and live in an urban area. So we are familiar with urban environments. This neighborhood is very deserted and if you are not familiar with downtown LA it may be a surprise.

Lovely and as pictured with awesome help from the owner!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in the downtown loft to be close to the fashion district for business. We needed to check in early to drop our bags when we arrived in order to meet some tight meetings and make a Dodger game. Well the loft was being cleaned so the owner came and watched our bags for us and then placed them safely in the room while we were gone! When we got the the room they were there waiting for us and we didn't need to worry about a thing! The view is cool and the place is well decorated and all your basic needs provided. We will be coming back for sure! The only thing I would say to folks who are light sleepers is bring some earplugs if your not used to sleeping in the city. It's been a few years for me and the sirens occasionally woke me up.
