About Brenda McPherson
My husband and I moved to Kittitas in 2000 to purchase the Kittitas Country Hardware store. We both come from small rural farming communities and Kittitas suited us. It looked like a ghost town the day we took possession of the store. We vowed to make a difference and set out to keep our promise. I founded the Kruisin Kittitas Car Show and Burnouts on Main St. in August of 2001. After 11 consecutive years our Chamber of Commerce took over the event and has been putting it on since then. I love traveling to the point of obsession. I fell in love with the VRBO concept many years ago when I first stayed in one. Since then I have picked apart everything I like and don't like about vacation rental properties and day dreamed about owning my own. In 2011 we had the opportunity to buy the building that is now Brew House Boarding. I love the work and especially enjoy sharing our creation with my guests. It is very gratifying. I have stepped away from working at the Hardware Store now and only do the bookkeeping. My husband and our dog can still be found there with our small family of employees. We live here for the quality of life it affords. There is no place with such amazing people on the planet, in my opinion. The people of this community have embraced us as old friends. Life is good here, you can't buy that.

Why Brenda McPherson chose Kittitas
We had the opportunity to purchase the "Carrico Bldg." in 2011. In our spare time we completely gutted and remodeled the building with the idea of putting a microbrewery in the ground floor and vacation rentals on the upper story. After 5 very long years, we thought we would never finish. The lower floor was completed 2 years before the upstairs. Just before the vacation rentals were opened for business the Brewery went out of business. Thrall and Dodge Winery then leased the space. So it is no longer a Brewery but still retains the name Brew House Boarding.

Back to the past
Thoughtful designed studio apartment with appropriate style - even the refrigerator was the right era. We enjoyed a glass of wine in the tasting room and both coffee bar and convenience store were just a few yards a way, a visit to Roslyn is a must and we enjoyed Ellensburg historic district and the museum.
This is such a lovely gem of a place. We walked in the door and immediately fell in love with the Nostalgic Suite. The attention to detail in the decorating is noteworthy and so fun and charming. We loved the 50s kitchen which was reminiscent of our childhood. The king size bed was so comfortable and having both firm and soft pillows made it even more so. The suite is very clean and well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The air conditioning worked great and, since it was hot, made our time in the suite very comfortable. The shower was amazing. As for the area; we enjoyed visiting with the friendly bookstore owner down the street. It is a very nice bookstore and has great places to sit and browse through the ample selection. We also had a nice visit with the woman who owns the wine tasting room below the suites. We enjoyed a wine cooler and took home a couple of excellent bottles of wine. We had a delicious dinner at The Ellensburg Pasta Company and breakfast at the Main Stop cafe in Kittitas was very good. The fruit stands in the area are wonderful and we picked up some beautiful peaches and nectarines on our way out of town. We certainly enjoyed everything about our stay in the Nostalgic Suite and found it a great place to have some peace and quiet. We felt very "at home" and plan to return. Thanks for all the attention to detail and for providing a place where we were able to relax and enjoy the area.
Thank you so much for your kind and well written review! I have not personally been to Bailey's Books. It is new this year and now I must go!
Thank you again,
Nostalgic Comfort, Perfect in Every Way
Stayed here for my son's wedding in Ellensberg. Only a ten minute drive from the suite to Ellensberg. It was nice to stay here as it is peaceful. Spotlessly clean, comfortable decor, amazing shower and awesome appliances from the fifties. We really enjoyed the electric percolator for our morning coffee. The owner is extremely pleasant and helpful letting us know about the car show that took place and where we needed to park.
This home was perfect for our mid-point stop to Seattle. It had everything you needed to be comfortable. The town was super small but super cute and friendly.
Thank you for the kind remarks!
Wonderful, restful stay.
Only stayed one night, but we will be back. Wonderful room in a quiet, friendly, small town.
Thank you for the kind words. So glad you enjoyed your stay!
Charming studio with incredible attention to detail. Spotless! Will definitely plan on returning.
Thank you, for the kind words! So happy you enjoyed your stay!
Kittitas County is a diverse area and I do not feel it is fair to claim all the activities in our valley as things you can do from our Suites. Some activities require more driving time than others.
Things very close to us include:
Olmstead State Park / the Wild Horse Wind Farm Interpretive Center
Gingko Petrified Forest / John Wayne Pioneer Trail (runs through town)
The Barn Quilt Tour / The Kittitas Valley Vinters Wine Tasting Tour / the Yakima River with it's famous fly fishing also accommodates water tubing excursions and nature exploration. Big Horn sheep hang out in the Yakima River Canyon.
Kruisin Kittitas Car Show & Burn Outs on Main St. the 2nd Sat. in Aug.
Christmas in Kittitas Lighted Tractor Parade Festival - 1st Sat. in Dec.
Ellensburg Events are just 8 miles from us:
Winter Hop Brewfest in January / Jazz in the Valley in July / Ellensburg Rodeo in September just to name a few.
The Gorge Ampitheatre Concerts - just 20 miles on I-90
