THE OCEAN WAVES VILLA
Daufuskie Rental Group is pleased to announce the rental launch of the Ocean Waves Villa on Daufuskie Island! The owner has authorized us to make this villa available for a super introductory rate! This won't last long, but now is a great opportunity for a family to come over to our special island for a very affordable price.
This is a new listing, so there is currently wide-open availability on the calendar.
The Ocean Waves Villa has an open floor plan, with living and dining areas effortlessly blending into each other. And yes, it may be a beach vacation, but we still know you're going to love the living room's brand-new 60" flat screen TV for rainy days. The dining room table has an extra leaf available to seat up to 8 people.
The villa has TWO master bedrooms (both with King-size beds) and a charming third bedroom that can either be set up with two twin beds OR with a King size bed...making this the only Sandy Lane rental with 3 king beds! (No fighting over who gets which bedroom when 3 couples are renting it!) Be sure to look at the photos showing the set-up for both configurations.
There are also TVs in the two master bedrooms. Each bedroom has an adjoining and spacious bathroom, so lots of privacy and room for everyone.
The villa's kitchen has Corian counters and is fully equipped with dishes, pots and pans, and utensils...Everything you need for home-cooked meals! (We will also tell you about nearby restaurants, and even local services that will bring delicious meals to your villa door!)
The villa has a wrap-around covered balcony that offers an ocean-front view. And here's a great feature for families! Adults can relax on the balcony and look out onto the pool below (which is open year-round!) to keep an eye on the kids.
The villa is managed by Daufuskie Rental Group, known for superior service to rental guests. From the moment you make your reservation to your last moment on the island, we will work hard to make coming to our island an easy experience, and then to provide you with a memorable vacation once you are here.. Your property managers live on Daufuskie full-time, and are available to be of assistance on a 24/7 basis.
SANDY LANE VILLAS
The Sandy Lane Villas complex is perched at the edge of the spectacular and historic Bloody Point beach. (Site of a ferocious battle between native Americans and British soldiers in the early 1700's.) The wonderful quiet, secluded beach is just steps away from your villa via a picturesque boardwalk over the beach dunes.
The large sunny pool between the complex and the beach dunes provides a fun destination for the whole family.* Along with spacious decking and ample lounge chairs is a shaded area for grilling. The beautiful architecture of Sandy Lane is in evidence with its many columns, arches, pillars and balustrades. The grounds have been professionally landscaped with palms and flowering plantings. This sensational, luxurious hideaway is flanked by pines, oaks and palms.
BLOODY POINT GOLF CLUB
Bloody Point Golf Club blends effortlessly into its natural environment. The championship 18-hole golf course, recently renovated by the design company of Davis Love III, boasts ocean, river, lagoon, and marshland views, and is home to countless species of wildlife. The beachfront pool (which you will have access to, for a fee) offers direct access to wide, secluded beaches that offer sanctuary to nesting sea turtles. The Eagle’s Nest Restaurant, named for the bald eagle’s home on the 6th hole, is located in the nearby Clubhouse and offers a casual dining experience for island guests and residents.
DAUFUSKIE ISLAND SC
Your villa is located on one of the best-kept secrets on the eastern coast: Daufuskie Island. Your vacation home overlooks 3 miles of pristine, quiet beaches where all you can hear is the sound of gentle waves and beautiful shore birds. Watch the shrimp boats, bike or ride horses along the beach, take a Historic tour and discover the Gullah History of Daufuskie or take in a round of golf. Don't forget to try our island delicacy, deviled crabs! Better still, we'll help arrange a full low-country dinner prepared by a local resident to be delivered directly to your cottage.
In addition to the Bloody Point and Melrose Resort restaurants, Daufuskie has several unique and colorful restaurants (Marshside Mama's and the Daufuskie Crab Company) where you'll swear you're in the middle of the Caribbean.
History buffs will enjoy exploring the island and visiting various sites providing a glimpse into the past, including the recently-restored Oyster House used as a 19th century Gullah meeting place, the Billie Burns Museum, ancient cemeteries, and the two-room school house where renowned author Pat Conroy taught and which was the subject of his first book, The Water is Wide.
Those interested in unique shopping opportunities will want to visit the Iron Fish Art Gallery, the Glass House, and the weekly farmer's market held at the public dock during the warmer months. And you certainly don't want to miss the Daufuskie Island Community Farm, where old and young visitors alike are encouraged to help feed the chickens and even to try milking a goat!
The island's motto is 'No Bridge? No Problem!'
- You will have to take a 30 minute boat ride to get to Daufuskie, which is a bridge-less island located between Hilton Head SC and Savannah, GA. unit needs updating
Property needs to be spruced up. Unit carpet is old with stains, smoke detectors were outdated and out of code. Mildew in master bedroom at base board area. Water heater in laundry room had exposed electrical wires.
Parking was a issue as we had a commercial van. Another property manager made a issue about it and at 930 pm we had to move the van off property. This was a issue for us as we had been drinking. No where did it state on VRBO that we were not allowed to keep a van on property. I had been contacted 3 times in a day on this matter taking time away from family.
I dont know why it was a issue as only 4-5 units were occupied that weekend and I already moved van to far side of parking lot. Building property manager GW services needs to address lights out on walkways and parking lot, extremely dark and unsafe. Also electrical room on our floor door was wide open and not secure. Unit below us had a security alarm going off all weekend that we could hear at night.
Grills on site for all guests need attention, low on fuel and dirty.
Where to start?
First, the complaints about the villa itself are greatly exaggerated. Having said that, the owner has just authorized a major renovation of the unit, including removing carpeting and replacing with upgraded flooring, painting of entire unit, replacing several base board pieces damaged by porch door leaks during the last hurricane (they are NOT mildewy, just water-warped). That renovation is scheduled to commence within the week, and we are greatly looking forward to seeing the results of this major "make-over."

Second, this renter was a rule-breaker, plain and simple. He and his family came over on a private community boat under his electric company's contractor pass. (Not allowed.) To our surprise, they showed up at the villa building in a large commercial van left on the island for his company's use. Had he asked or notified us, we would have been glad to tell him that only golf carts are allowed to be parked overnight at the villa building. We politely informed him this was not allowed, and suggested he move it to an adjoining road (about 100 yards away). He refused to do so. A DRG manager then let him let him park it at her home overnight, and made herself available to chauffeur him back and forth to the van without cost.
Regarding his using his professional opinion to criticize various aspects of the villa and building, at no time did he express any of these concerns while he was staying with us nor give us a chance to address his concerns. We will, however, be sharing his comments with the building management company.

What the renter DIDN'T say is that he repeatedly told us that he and his family were greatly enjoying their stay and liked the villa. He was clearly disgruntled about the van situation, and decided to use the review process to exact some sort of retribution. We are sorry he was unhappy about the situation, but are also aware that most folks decide to vacation on Daufuskie because of the quiet setting and the golf cart environment. His decision to use a commercial van instead of a golf cart was not in keeping with the building policy nor consistent with the vacation experience we try to provide to all our rental guests.

My Mother and I have great memories from this unit!
My Mother and I arrived on the 11th of August. She uses a walker and had plenty of room to get around. The unit is spacious and was equipped with more then we expected. The atmosphere is very cozy and the views are great. The L shaped balcony has 3 door to exit from, one in the master, living and dining areas. We were serenaded every night by the sounds of the waves gently pounding on the shoreline. We also loved the sounds of the frogs and other night life. The owner was very accommodating and gracious. We plan of coming back next year if not sooner. The Island was beyond our expectations with sandy lanes to travel to all sorts of interesting landmarks. The people were so friendly and helpful. Riding around on golf carts is a great way to enjoy the beautiful trees, flowers and everyday we found something or someplace new. Highly recommend!
Great Vacation home! We own a home in Melrose on the Island but took our entire family this year on vacation there. We rented this location for some of them to stay at. Great home, location, and having the pool was an added bonus! We would highly recommend this rental and Deb Smith and her crew to anyone looking for a place to stay!
Was nice at first then noticed several things that were not satisfactory
Property was ok. Manager to deal with was great. Stayed in 2 other units in same building and they were alot better.
Without specifics, it's difficult to know exactly what things the renter did not find satisfactory. She did not contact us with any concerns while she was there, and gave us no chance to address any problems. In fact, she said her family enjoyed their stay very much. * * * * Having said all that, the owner has just authorized a major renovation of the villa, including new flooring, painting, and other updates, and we are very much looking forward to the results of this major "make-over". * * * Deborah Smith, Daufuskie Rental Group
The villa was spacious with such a beautiful view of the ocean and pool. The grandkids loved it.
Our family enjoyed our stay so much we have planned on staying at The Ocean Waves Villa next year as well.
Great family vacation
We had a blast on Daufuskie. Great just being together without all the distractions and people on most beaches. The condo was great. It could of had better kitchen equipment and the carpet needs to be replaced. The rental agents were great. Very helpful. The location was great. Could sit on the porch and watch the grandchildren swim.
