Great Place for a water vacation
The two of us rented this property for a week long mountain water vacation in late May. The property, which is exactly as it appears in the listing photos, is a bit older but is nicely set up for enjoying the lake. The views from both the main living area and the master BR are wonderful. This is a great property if you plan on bringing some water toys. We kept our small sailboat at the dock and two kayaks in the garage.
Due to its unique layout there are a couple of minor drawbacks regarding this property.
1. If you have a party of 6, the only place that all of you will be able to sit down and eat together is the picnic table on the dock. There is a small table in the main room that seats 2 and there are 4 four seats at the kitchen bar.
2. There are no closets where you can hang clothes. We used the shower rod in the non-used bathroom.
For those bringing kayaks, it is a 50 yard walk down the hill to the water. Depending upon the water level of the lake, you probably won't be able to launch from the bank. Launching from the dock is easy enough and you can board via the swimming ladder at the end of the dock.
For those bringing a boat, the nearest launch ramp is at Lake Blue Ridge Marina, about 1.5 miles away by water. The ramp does not have an adjacent dock so you will need two people, one to drive the boat and one for the vehicle. NOTE that this ramp is closed Friday-Sunday during the summer. The floating dock at the house is also older but in good repair. Make sure that you bring plenty of dock lines and bumpers, because Lake Blue Ridge boaters seem to delight in travelling fast close to the shore which creates good sized wakes at the dock.
We very much enjoyed our time at this property, and would highly recommend it for smaller groups who will be bringing water toys. We would definitely rent this property again.
We absolutely enjoyed our stay!
The cabin was very comfortable and clean. Had everything we needed. The lake access was great, we brought our boat and enjoyed rides on the lake.
Loved the yard, very pet and child friendly. We spent time out having picnics and s’mores at the fire pit.
Enjoyed eating at the marina and a few local restaurants downtown blue ridge.
We were happy to find a grill where we cooked most of our meals out on the porch. Close to town but secluded from traffic and the property had privacy as well.
Great Lake view
Great spot on the lake with wonderful views of the lake and mountains and easy access into town
Blue ridge cabin
Perfect place for our family nice dock for boat. However no power or water at dock. Great location very private. Funky entrance but not a factor. Beautiful views appropriatly appointed. Very helpful and able to contact quickly broker. Would go back tomorrow.
First I want to start off saying, that the views from the cabin were beautiful. The cabin had everything we needed. Very comfortable couches and beds. We felt right at home. I had read in other reviews, that the showers water was lukewarm. We are a family of three that took showers one after another and never ran out of hot water. We did some fishing off the dock and caught some big mouth bass. We loved it so much that we decided to stay two extra days. This was a perfect vacation for us and Tiffany was AWESOME!!!
Our family enjoyed our time! The views were incredible. My husband was disappointed there was no ESPN...big sports fan. The one bedroom off the kitchen seemed colder than the others. We would definitely come back though!
