On Main, a great location for your vacation headquarters. Steps away from the free Park City trolley that will take you to the slopes, within minutes of Old Town restaurants, shops, and night life, this historic home offers you luxury, convenience, and instant access to the many area activities and events. No car necessary but onsite, off-street parking is provided.
Located at the top of Main in the heart of Park City, our Main Street home is a totally rebuilt miner's home that has received the Park City Historical Society Preservation Award. Although the original exterior has been preserved and restored, the interior is entirely new and beautifully appointed - including gas fireplace, jacuzzi tub, and steam shower. This two-bedroom plus loft home is perfect for 2 couples or a family with 2-3 children. Free WiFi now available.
'Poison Flume,' Park City's mountain stream, flows behind the property, lending its gurgling sounds to the charming atmosphere of Old Town.
We moved to the Salt Lake area with our two children in 1984. Never dreamed we'd stay here so long, but we absolutely love the environment. We learned to ski downhill, hiked, biked--this is the place (in case you didn't notice) for so many outdoor activities. Of course Utah also boasts beautiful red rock country a few hours away. Once you get addicted to that, there's no going back! So although our main house is in Salt Lake because of work and school, we loved Park City and looked to find a little "miner's shack" in the area. Our realtor who was showing us around knew the folks who owned our place and took us to see it before it went on the market. It was "quite primitive" but we loved it and the location instantly!
The Owner purchased this house in 1990
My husband and I thought it would be fun to get a small place in Park City that we could potentially fix up. Of course, we personally had neither the time, talent or the inclination to do the work ourselves. After about 10 years we decided we had to do something major to fix up the place. (No foundation, upstairs floor slanted a lot!) So we did a total gut and moved the house up and back from the street, put in a wonderful foundation that gave us a huge master bedroom downstairs, a dining alcove and a little porch on the upper floor--plus a driveway! Park City Historic Foundation even contributed a little money to the rebuild. Put a lot of love, time, and money into the effort but very happy with the results.
Location, location, location! Plus we think we did a pretty good job furnishing it with top notch appliances and furniture. Very comfortable, cozy.
Thanks for a terrific time! The house is beautiful. We felt at home. The kids loved the creek. Thanks again for everything.
We've stayed at many homes through VRBO/Home Away over the years, and this was our favorite. If you like the privacy and quiet of your own home within a block of restaurants and shops of Old Town Park City, look no further. We felt lucky to stay at one of only a handful of homes on historic Main Street and truly felt like a local. The house is literally a few hundred feet from Grappa and the rest of downtown. Upon arrival for our Christmas stay, we were greeted with a nice bottle of wine in the kitchen and a lighted Christmas tree in the main room. The home was spotless, upgraded, and far more spacious than the photos indicate. The entry level houses a highly upgraded kitchen, breakfast nook, and family room with 2 couches and a warm gas fireplace. Upstairs is an enclosed bedroom with a queen bed, flat screen tv, closet, and a balcony. Across from this room is a spacious loft with a daybed and trundle. On the bottom level is the master bedroom, which has huge closets, sitting area, another flat screen tv, and upgraded bathroom with a steam shower. The property backs to Poison Creek, which flowed even in freezing and snowy conditions. Next door appeared to be an empty lot that my kids used for sledding contests after spending the day on the slopes. We loved having our own driveway, which made getting in and out a breeze. We stayed over Christmas, and the home had everything we needed--even wrapping tape, screw drivers, and extra batteries! We were sad to leave, but the full-size washer and dryer allowed us to pack clean clothes for the long drive back to CA. Lastly, the owners are attentive, available, and really seem to care about this property and their renters. Such a gem!
I am a very picky user of VRBO. After identifying all of the possible accommodations, I read every review posted and contact the owners to see what type of response they make before making a choice. This rental delivered in spades! Carol is a delight to deal with -- accommodating, willing to answer multiple questions, and has high standards when it comes to the condition of her property. The miner's cabin is anything but rustic in the interior. Everything is provided, the spacious design gives everyone plenty of space, the beds are comfortable, the water pressure great, and the atmosphere cozy and inviting. Eating-in is a pleasure especially with small children as the kitchen has everything including a cupboard of essentials. While shopping is 1 1/2 miles away, the free bus service plus trolley makes it doable. Restaurants are just a short walk downhill as is the Town Lift. Had a wonderful, stress-free holiday and would highly recommend staying here, especially families.
This house was perfect for my family of 5's ski trip. Located at the top of Main Street, everything downtown was within walking distance. All the ski resorts were very close as well. The house is extremely comfortable and cozy and the master bedroom is huge with lots of storage. The house came stocked with a large amount of condiments and basics for cooking. Even the bathrooms had lots of extras in case something was left at home. The owner, Carol, graciously accepted all our requests and even gave us a complimentary bottle of wine. We would and hope to definitely stay here again. Could not have made a better choice!
We stayed for a ski trip with a family of five and it was perfect. Nice dining area to discuss daily ski runs. House is all set up for arrival with all cooking needs and dishes/utensils. To top it off, a bottle of wine when we arrived. Tired skiiers at most meals in the house. We walked to Main Street for dinner which was a five minute walk. And plenty of place to park for the trip. Highly recommend!
This home was very nice with great history behind it. The book on the coffee table that shows what the house has been through is very cool. No need to worry about parking in the town as this house comes with a driveway and you are only steps away from all the action of Park City. The owner is very pleasant and helpful. Everything is ready upon arrival. There was even a bottle of wine waiting for our arrival. Will return again I am sure next time Park City is on the schedule for a boarding trip.. Thank you Carol!!!!
For our recent business trip to Park City for Sundance, this home was our sanctuary. Not only is it charming, clean, and well-appointed, the location is perfect for visitors to the film festival...and just up the street enough to be away from the masses, but close enough to walk to everything. I'm so glad we stayed here!
Can't wait to return. Thanks to Carol for being a joy to work with, too.
