One week stay on Grace (James Mitchell's yacht)
I thought the boat was comfortable, but my husband said it felt like "camping" - mostly because he didn't like using the common bathroom and we were afraid to use too much of the boat's water supply by trying to shower on the boat. I had no issues with using the common bathroom - it was clean and had great water pressure and hot water.
Obviously marine living is a bit different...I thought the boat was quite comfortable. We enjoyed the common room upstairs - my daughter was using the futon so that room above the kitchen was just like her bedroom.
Internet reception was pretty poor and spotty which was a bit of a problem, since we were both trying to get some work done.
If I had to be really picky, I'd say that it would be nice to have thicker towels, more of them, and some hand towels for the bathroom. There was no bath soap provided (we just bought some body wash and split that up). I felt like we used lots of paper towels to dry stuff in the kitchen as there was no dish towel. There was no bowl in the kitchen either (bigger than a cereal bowl) which made washing dishes a little more challenging - since there's no hot water there, I would heat up water with the electric kettle and try to put utensils/dishes in a sauce pot with hot water and soap to wash them.
Finally, it would really be nice to have a few hooks in the bedrooms to hang towels, a robe, etc. There is adequate wall space for them ...
All in all, our stay was nice. It was quiet, and not much other boat traffic (and diesel fumes). Guest parking was always available.
Thank you for your thoughtful review and being great guests.
Just a couple of comments. There's definitely hot water in the kitchen as it is in the showers. I'd be glad to show it to you on your next visit. Boat water is easily refillabe and lasts for days. Either our staff or even our guests refill it all the time after a few days of stay, if needed.
We'd be glad to assist with towels. in All, It'd be great if you could share your concerns or suggestions during your stay so we can address them.
We had wonderful family time aboard the boat. Very relaxing and loved playing with the chess and Chinese checkers provided to end a perfect day. It was perfect for our family of four. Thank you
Just such a beautiful space to be able to experience with great moments we will remember
It was an experience that everyone should be able to do if they could. Very Quiet peaceful calm a whirl within a whirl and I’m very thankful for the experience
Loved the Yacht!!
My wife and I along with our two kids stayed on the yacht as part of our vacation. It was a unique experience. The yacht is spacious, with nice views, tranquil surrounding. Our daughters loved it as well. We are very glad we selected a yacht to stay on instead of a conventional hotel. Plus we loved the common area where we can come together to have dinner at a table, a kitchen to cook our home made meal away from home. The yacht is in a great location not far from Venice Beach. Unlike the rest of LA, we loved fresh air and cool breeze at night to help us rest and sleep well.
Thank you for your stay. Will be happy to host you again in the future!
My girlfriend and I stayed on this fantastic yacht. It's very spacious, and it's amazing to find a refuge away from the noise of the big city and find ourselves in a romantic privacy of this great yacht! The yacht does have 2 showers and bathrooms and we had no issues using the toilets on the yacht. This sure was a fantastic way to stay overnight that we will remember for life!
Unique and Fun way to spend the holiday!
We surprised the family with NYE on the yacht. It was a chill and different way to enjoy the California coast. We even could watch the fireworks from the yacht in the marina. James was very accommodating to our needs. He is an excellent host and knows the value of creating a memorable experience for the whole family! We plan to go back again and maybe even take the yacht out on an excursion with the Captain. Thanks again James for a memorable weekend on your yacht!
